139 Years Old Today - Legacy Numbers For All 1640 Players

Did Wycombe really get gates of 10,000 in the ‘fifties? I was a supporter of Maidstone United in those days and I would say that the average attendance at the Athletic ground was around 2,500 to 3,000.

Flared trousers & bicycle clips? (think about it)

Dietary fibre didn’t exist in the 1950s. Bananas were still a post-war rarity, broccoli was considered filthy fancy french rubbish and all bread was as white as the driven snow. People would go weeks without a poo.

From one home game until the next perhaps? Think of the outcome (as it were) of all that jumping up and down as Bodger scores his umpteenth goal following a sedentary fortnight.

I’ll level with you all - whether you like it or not. In my 40 years of attending football matches, i have never used ‘the trap’.

I have to agree. In 60 years of attending football matches (and on occasions with a certain amount of liquid intake beforehand) I’ve never felt the need to sit down as it were.

I just assume at these large newer grounds they provide loads of cubicles for those who prefer cocaine to a decent pint.

7000 cheek clenching spectators for a Fa Cup 1st qualifying rnd (4 ties away from FL clubs entering) v Windsor&Eton in 1951.

An indication of the Wanderers following in those days.

Well there was no TwitFace or TikGram for folks to while away the hours…

No phones, ipads, internet or anything else to do at the weekend

Sex out of the question?

Wahey, you’re in there, @wwfcblue
