Holy hell! I feel gutted for Duff and his team. Yes, the results haven’t been where we’ve wanted them to be but none of those players had downed tools and compared to who we had before, there was a massive improvement.
For a club that has stuck by their manager through thick & thin (Ainsworth first few seasons & Bloomsfield’s starting run) to now being cut-throat is really difficult to take…
Who would have had Duff to be the first sacking of the 26/27 season…

Its not realky knee jerk nor is it a shock in modern football.
We have been poor for a while, the only person to blame is the manager.
Im weirdly not happy nor disappointed. Problem being there didnt really look like things were going to change.
Back on the rollercoaster.
It us interesting that a number of posters, including myself, didnt expect him to ladt long this season.

Yes and no.
The run since March has been awful and there have been many and varied things to critise the man for. But it’s very early in the season.
The OG will get pelters by those that like to throw pelters around but we have started this season the same way we ended last season, haven’t we? If he were the manger to change the mentality at the end of last season, he should have been able to do that by now.
My feeling is that they have acted now because they have someone else in mind.

Senseless decision. They’ve simply got to have someone lined up.
I really liked him. Had a tricky start to the season, and I had confidence that he could turn it around. Clearly others didn’t. Of course a huge amount goes on behind closed doors we will never know about.

Don’t know if anything has gone on behind the scenes or Duff had ‘lost the dressing room’ but my initial reaction is that this is a ridulous knee jerk reaction. I liked Duff and he had one game to work with our new record signing. I think Dan Rice is really out of his depth.

What an absolute waste of everyone’s time. He didn’t even get a year. We haven’t even looked that bad (Stockport game aside). But sacking 5 games into a season is insane. What a waste of all that preseason, a waste of any input he had into the signings and play-style.
We used to be a club that had an identity, built through longevity. Now we’re just like everyone else. No spirit, no never-say-die, no Wycombe family, no terrace (for most). Absolute tinpot behaviour all round.

Two ways of looking at this
- We have been on a poor run of form in general for a while and Duff had not changed it around sufficiently results wise.
- Duff should have been given more time. Our start to the season has been slow but we did show signs of performing well.
I am of the opinion of number 2. I feel we have jumped the gun quickly.

Thing is, if you want someone to come in now and steady the ship, bring some confidence back into the players, you’d bring in a manager exactly like Michael Duff… that’s not called Michael Duff.

Is this the reason we didn’t spend earlier in the transfer window? We were making sure we had enough to sack Duff & his team and pay their contract’s up?
Also, are they looking for another head-coach / manager with the initals of M.D to save money on new training kit for them?

I dont think it was a bad appointment, but i am surprised how quickly it fell apart for Duff.
I didnt like his 9 month wasted chat though last season, and hes obviously not getting the best out of the players.
