Fighting an alleged Slumlord - case going to court

It’s summer once the playoffs are done.

Sounds suspiciously woke to me. (But good luck to you, hopefully the new Renters Rights act goes some way towards balancing power more towards tenants.)

For the avoidance of doubt my tongue is firmly in my cheek and I bear no malice towards @bargepole (and for the record I was a player of Rugby Union* - peaking at second 15 adult level - and think it is a magnificent sport)

I couldn’t resist the temptation to contrast their response to being called a slum landlord oh here with their willingness to call some other poor sod (who may or may not be but I would imagine it’s hard to prove they are) one, particularly as I am pretty sure it wouldn’t be difficult to find out who they are referring to.

that’s my excuse for my deranged thought processes arising from brain damage.*

**well it may have been the post-match beer consumption rather than the match itself…

You’re safe to use he/him/his. He won’t sue you.

I think you are right but I never like to second-guess a person’s preferred gender pronoun. (I knew Chas back then through his work so am confident that he is comfortable with ‘he’).

I personally think it is just being polite.

So have we signed anyone yet?

Good intentions I’m sure but I think you’re safe unless someone tells you they prefer something different.

It’s not even June son. Come on.

As sophisticated as AI gets, it will never be able to recreate the stuff that gets posted on here

Sorry. As always my tongue is still firmly in my cheek. I have no doubt at all that they would be happy for me to call them ‘him’. But where’s the fun in that?

(The expression ‘little things please little minds’ does ring very loudly)

(It does also make editing my posts a pain…)

(On an unusually serious point though. I do write reports for work - some of which do get read out at county or coroners courts from time to time - and we do have a policy of gender-neutral terminology to try and avoid identifying individuals within the report. A necessary precaution in a somewhat male-dominated industry

Wrong thread.

No, was trying to change the topic…

I think it’s disgraceful that some dirty, lazy lefty Guardian reading student is using the full force of our oppressive Sharia-like Law against a poor wealth creator trying to eke a living from a few rental.properties. This after the incompetent dictator Starmer’s government has already put in place policies to limit his incomings. People like him under constant attack will be forced to leave the country at this rate. If a custodial sentence is the result, at least we know Dev will be there to offer him some cash in hand work.

I haven’t disclosed the names of any of the parties, nor the location of the property in question (which is nowhere near Slough).

In any event, County Court hearings are held in public, and anyone can come along to the hearing and sit at the back of the court.

That isn’t my point. Because we know the date and location of the hearing theoretically someone could maliciously print this off, hand it to the judge and say ‘look what this person has said about that person.

I’d be interested to know what a judge would make of the defendant’s legal representative potentially libelling the plaintiff.

But maybe I am being naive and it’s perfectly acceptable to do so these days.

I’ve added the word “alleged” to the thread title.

Why on Earth would anyone create a thread about their own pretty dull legal work, its not exactly Perry Mason. I’m sure its very interesting to them, as my work is to me, but I certainly wouldn’t be boring others with it on a football forum. Absolutely bizarre.
