Both Martin and Johnson played more than 100 games for Wycombe. Kone just over 50.
I guess that was my original point.

The ‘elephant in the room’ is just how good is Richard and what is his true potential?
Clubs have been attracted by his stats / accolades from last season yet in reality it was two v different seasons for him pre and post injury (& the distraction of the Jan window).
It would be possible to argue that once his play as an unknown entity had been worked out by opposition coaches his potential plateaued or even stalled.
It is also completely possible that the form of the team, change of playing style, management disruption, fitness etc post injury were major contributors.
My fear is that his value in the mid season window diminishes if he isn’t banging them in through Autumn.
If I were running things at AP, personally I would cash in now.
In terms of not takingthe first “shiny” offer, we’d have to ask Joe Low if he feels staying at Wycombe another half a season benefitted him or whether he’d have loved the chance to play for Cardiff in the championship.
For half a season at least!
One of these days the penny is going to drop for you that the football this season is not going to be like the football last season ![]()
Did hear from someone connected at Leicester that Kone will be their player soon, I’m loathe to put the figure he quoted on here as although this guy is connected there it also might fall into the “bloke down pub told me” category….
It definitely was in the first half last Saturday.
But not in the second . Look who we signed today . I think you do yourself a disservice with your negative take on this .
Common sense would suggest the only scenario Kone would play for us this season is if he runs down his contract and ends up leaving very cheap in January or summer. It would be disastrous if we chose not to sell now and let him walk for 10% of the revenue we could receive now.
Just out of interest…unless they change position every game which players don ‘t get ‘found out’?
Well it’s 1-1 then. As for any new signing I’ve never seen or heard of, I wait to see them play before I get excited or depressed.
Oh I am already convinced the football is not going to be like it was the second half of last season.
I am at the moment unsure whether it will be better or worse…
I don’t think it is as much negativity as more cautious ‘wait and see’.
This isn’t to question the players we have brought to the squad - time will tell or not whether they ‘make it’.
My concern is that for us to work MD, in my opinion, has to become a much better ‘manager’ than he has shown so far.
He may do so, but equally he may not.
Let’s see where we are after another 9 league games.
And I genuinely want you to be able to say “I told you so” and for me to be able to say “well I got that all wrong.” (Something I am able to say in all parts of my life with impressive consistency)
This season will be different, they all are.
I can only assume the other poster was suggesting this will be for the better. Difficult to know if he is in favour of the current management and leadership ![]()
I’m like you, the days I’d heard of many of the signings we make are long gone.
But others follow things a lot closer so I’m hoping excited talkthat these guys are brilliant is accurate.
Apart from Akinfenwe, I cannot recall a signing I recognised even if I’d seen them when we’d played them before.
I envy those able to say: ‘I remember when we played (team) and I thought then he was excellent…’
Cyril Regis? Simon Garner?
Sadly before my time in Bucks Mr Relaxed…I only saw Cyril play for that West Brom. Although I had heard of Tony Adams.![]()
I wish none of us had heard of Tony Adams! ![]()
Even Stefan Oakes?
Wycombe were Stefan Oakes’s main club. He played about twice as many games for Wycombe as any other club.
