For reference the Fotmob ratings.

Mullins our top player on 7.9.

Jointly with Van Sas. Wouldn’t agree with all the ratings but, significantly, I think the mark for Fred is about right because they more or less marked him out of the game.

I see that I’m in a minority re Fred. I think my opinion was perhaps unduly influenced by the fact that he only had one really strong run down the right and my expectations were probably unreasonably high in the wake of several really outstanding performances.

He had more than one good run down the right. He got quite a few crosses in during the first half.

Second half he was playing a lot deeper and doing a lot more defensive work, really up until they scored.

The corrective I clearly needed.

Woodrow doesn’t play as a lone striker of course. Presumably the unjustifiably low rating for him was based on that misunderstanding. He is excellent at holdup play and picking passes from a withdrawn position.

For me Anders was the better of the two starting defenders, but both were outshone by Casey when he came on.

I went for CBM as he worked his socks off in midfield

Casey seems like a no nonsense, let’s get the ball well clear of our box kind of central defender - a right sided and slightly less intimidating version of Sonny Bradley. A skinhead minus the neck tattoos (although his hair is growing back again now).
