Match Day Thread : Charlton (Play-offs first leg)

Perhaps worth mentioning that it’s just being broadcast by Paramount + in the USA rather than CBS Sports. I won’t bore on about how terrible the CBS deal has been for the EFL compared to the coverage we used to get on ESPN.

Red and white teams have got fairly jammy in the playoffs so far. Let’s put a stop to that :folded_hands:

Previous results, and current form, count for nothing in these playoff games.

The whole match could be turned upside down by a single incident, as we saw in Orient v Stockport yesterday - a defensive error, a controversial penalty, an offside not given, or even a red card. Any of these could happen.

Wycombe haven’t won their game following the election of a new Pope since 1958. Oh no.

They have to score to take something back to that London, a clean sheet and a Kone hatrick please. Udoh to get one as well. Norris to save a last minute pen. Though we know its only half-time at 90 mins…I would worry if we had no advantage at all to take to their place.
COYB!

yes. I think if we don’t win tonight it’s pretty much over.

Haven’t lost under this Pope!

It must be skewed somewhat by all the shots in the Shrewsbury game. And to prove the point that most statistics are useless - we couldn’t score and drew the match against the worst team in the division.

Nope, even accounting for that. We didn’t score that night in part because of Blackman’s heroics, but mainly because we were wasteful in the extreme - Kone missed 3 big chances alone.

Must be the same sort of statistics that told Data Dan we needed Dodds in charge. These ‘facts’ should really be stored in a darker place..

Could ypu provide a source for this? Nothing I’ve seen from looking at has turned up anything up that remotely supports this claim.

My eyes saw more excitement, goals, team cohesion, good performances and wins pre MD…but if the stats say otherwise what can I say?
Hoping for a successful end to the season for Mike and the team.
Let it be Nathan Jones angrily spitting out his gum tonight!

Come on guys, let’s hope you can rediscover your early season form and give the Addicks a walloping. Took me some time to get back on your new site as it wouldn’t recover my old account for some reason. Anyway from one Wanderer to another I wish you all the best for your game tonight which I’ll be watching along with the rest of you as long as you promise not to come back in for Aaron Morley if you do make it?

Very quiet down at AP right now (17:05)

That’s exactly the point, isn’t it?

The idea we’re creating as good chances as we were under Blooms doesn’t pass the smell test.

No one who watched us earlier in the season and watches us now would immediately think that.

And the fact I’ve heard this claim more than once without any source makes me even more suspicious of it.

That said, COYB!
