Two big chances in that game. We missed ours, they scored theirs. Fine margins. I actually thought over the two legs we put up a really good fight, and were arguably the better team in the second half tonight.
I think we should all let the dust settle before the over-emotional reactions start. I imagine Dodds has until October to prove that he can have us challenging at the top end next season, otherwise he’ll get the old heave ho.
A brilliant away end tonight. A shame that Charlton fans first intention when celebrating their win was to mock and throw flares at the away fans, rather than enjoy the moment themselves.
I’m inclined to give him the summer. Although we were in a great spot, it’s a tough gig to come in and want to put your own stamp on that squad mid way through the season. Dodds clearly thought defence is the way to promotion and called it wrong. Although, TBF, we were in it with 2 games to go.
Blooms took over a good team and struggled too. Dodds will get a much shorter chance from the fans next season if we don’t start well.
Also, he won’t get sacked for a while, so why love in the misery through the long summer of wanting him gone.
The people who spent a small fortune to track across London for that shit on a Thursday night deserved better. Maybe the club will offer them some money back.
I was setup mentally to lose (have been since February tbh) and am glad to see the end of the season and as proud of the boys as well am, it was disappointing. I didn’t see the goal scoring chance as was too far at the end of the stand. But it is, what it is.
I guess, within the financial rules, we either buy the league next year or the ownership is happy for us to plod along. But that’s next seasons problem.
Have a good summer all. ‘See’ you all in August. Early start as well - World Cup year.
I would say playing long ball all the time over two legs to strikers who don’t win headers isn’t going to create many chances. Without Bayo, Vokesy or Wheeler up top it didn’t really work.
It feels to me that MD has come to “little” Wycombe from super massive Sunderland and thought teams like us can only get a result by being ultra cautious. I just don’t feel he believed Wycombe could be a Championship club.
It’s a nice little job for him.
Next season though he needs to really get things rolling again, and BELIEVE in Wycombe Wanderers.
I will say one more thing before I go to bed. Anyone who was at the game today will hopefully agree. We were immense. We shut them up for most of the game. It literally took that goal for them to sing ‘you’re not singing any more’. I know we don’t have the biggest following. But I would LOVE to know some sort of pound for pound rating with other fans, because all the boys and girls were amazing and we punch above our weight.
