Match Day Thread: Colchester 2nd Sept 2025 (EFL Trophy)

at least Adams was honest enough to admit we were going down!

Yep, that was brilliant, writing a season off by October!

Anything for a padded seat, eh?

Hard to argue against this

If even the fans can all see what a laughing stock we are, then imagine what the other players, mangers, coaches and agents in the EFL think of us. Pathetic.

Is Stroud that grinning prick that was giving Rice a load of softball questions at the trust Q&A?

But even if somehow we manage to beat Mansfield, what then? We plod on with him for a few more weeks and then just sack him after we inevitably lose against Barnsley, Wigan and Blackpool? We are miles off the level of the top half teams in this division and all the evidence so far shows that MD is not capable of finding a way to change this. We’d be far better to pull the plug now and give a new manager a chance to get some points on the board with some favourable September fixtures. Who knows - a bit of flexibility to our play and the confidence of a win or two could really transform this squad.

Mike Dodds is clearly not going to be the man to lead the transformation though. That should now be obvious to anyone who watches us play.

He needs saving from himself. He’s a youth team coach who’s been promoted beyond his ability. Surely ML must be wondering how his money is being spent? DR must be starting to get worried that some of the dung will land on his desk.

Shot for confidence . This will only get worse . Last two games we have been going backwards.

I don’t know him personally but he seemed pretty much ever present when the Trust stepped in to run the club in the face of extinction, entirely voluntarily. Bit unfair to call him a prick.

Oh the finance man……apparently

Well at least we have the new signings for Saturday , and Fink.

It’s pretty much only you that can’t see we’ve been going backwards since MB left.

I’m not rubbing it in because dominoes fell for me not to get one but I’m glad I didn’t get a ST now!

Can someone email the club offering to return it or ask for a refund and see what the response is please…..that should be a good laugh

I’m fairly speechless. What I found astounding, with little over a minute to go, Gregory passed to Lutonadio, who passed to Anders, who passed back to Gregory, all in all conceding another 10 yards. I’m not blaming that lads, that is what Dodds has drilled into them. In the DYING minute 1-2 down!

There’s no urgency, no attacking desire. Just needless, needless passing, allowing the opposition to reset.

Someone said earlier it took Colchester 25 mins to figure us out. That’s 15 minutes more than what it took Stevenage on Saturday.

Second half, we would have been ripped apart by a L1 team the way we insist on passing sideways in front of our own box.

Like a few others here, I want him to succeed. But what the Sunderland fans told us back in January is ringing true. And I don’t see how the new attacking options brought in yesterday help us, they’re never going to see the ball.

What about Berry, looked an exciting player. Never given a chance.
