Yeah, but people will still knock him.
Lowry for me is the most naturally talented player we have , needs to be used as a number 10
Donât want to be âthat guyâ but any conclusions drawn from tonight need to be tempered by the fact weâre playing the boy scouts under 15s second XI
Iâm surprised people take these games seriously, although I probably ought not to be.
Iâve only watched the second half but Lowrys vision tonight has been superb allied to an excellent touch.
If we had brought in a half decent head coach in January who was interested in actually scoring goals Lowry would have been a stand out player
Bit of a shame Lowryâs been moved from No10 to left wing to accommodate Savage as heâs been outstanding.
We should def be playing a 4-2-3-1 formation after our play tonight. Its clear that CBM should be starting alongside Leahy or Abbott, Lowry behind the striker. Wingers should be either Bell or Junior & McNeilly.
I hope Duff seeâs this and plays to the squadâs strengths rather than a formation that has worked else where (but has never worked here)
I know itâs a nothing game but Iâve seen more from our 2nd XI than I have with a large number of our âstartingâ XI this season
Itâs not the fact itâs a nothing game, itâs that as said above, you have to take into account weâre playing a side a million miles away from being as good as another L1 side. I would be very worried if any of our first team squad didnât look good tonight
Nice.
I was just thinking something similar. We have just over 12 weeks until the January transfer window opens.
Some players now need to be given their heads so we (and far more importantly the head coach) can see whether theyâre up to it.
Mikki van Sas needs to be given the chance to prove heâs good enough to be No. 1. Recall Shamal George in January.
Alex Lowry needs to be given the chance to prove he can perform consistently in the No. 10 role, which is clearly his best position. Playing Lowry as a 10 means a 4-2-3-1 formation.
George Abbott and Luke Leahy are our best two central-midfielders.
Daniel Harvie is clearly our first choice left-back.
Donnell McNeilly needs to play on the right of the attack. Sam Bell on the left.
The remaining positions are all up for grabs.
Jack Grimmer, Niall Huggins and Fin Back can fight it out at right-back. None have impressed so far this season,
Dan Casey and Declan Skura should compete for the right centre-back role. Give Connor Taylor a rest and a chance to reset.
Anders Hagelskjaer and Taylor Allen can compete for the left centre-back role.
Alternate Bradley Fink and Cauley Woodrow up front in the hope Fink can get fit and show something. Send Woodrow back in January.
I think you mean Dan Harvie is first choice left back, not centre back that Dodds played him as!
Good to see Lowry getting the love he deserves.
And I agree with most of your other points. Shock.
*edits and whistles
Abbot and Boyd Munce are our best two central midfielders. BM, can break up play, and cover ground quickly to give us defensive cover. Leahy sadly canât.
This list really highlights how pony we are these days, what a lack of leadership we have on the pitch and how far backwards we have gone not just since January but compared to lineups GA had in his latter league 1 years.
Luke Leahyâs statistics are some of the best in the division. He might not be able to play the Josh Scowen role but I am not sure Caolan Boyd-Munce can either. I wouldnât want to lose what Leahy brings, in the hope Boyd-Munce can successfully provide that defensive cover.
This might be a moot debate for Wigan Athletic away on Saturday should Abbott not be fit. Boyd-Munce and Leahy are then the obvious pairing in the centre.
Yes, it certainly does. Well done to our recruitment team.
Bravo indeed
I think this team has real potential but we need to start playing a formation and tactics that play to the squadâs strengths. We canât keep trying to get players to play a certain way that just doesnât work.
