Stand by it, I’ve struggled to watch this and get excited or be impressed with anyone in general….until the third. No one who started has made me think they can force their way in. Maybe gillingham have been so poor that they haven’t had to move out of first gear? It’s looked more like a practice match than a competition.
Almost disappointed Fink scored, as was about to type what a good game he’d had even without scoring.
His hold up play was impeccable all evening. I felt against the Fulham kids he didn’t really impose himself, but he certainly did tonight. All rounded off with that cracking header. Lovely move and really well finished.
Good, solid performance all round. Westergaard probably the stand out player for me.
I know he isn’t in the dugout, and maybe that’s the reasons but if I didn’t know Gillingham have Ainsworth as manager, I wouldn’t have been able to tell we played against one of his teams.
FWIW, I don’t think the role Fink had to play in our first goal was insignificant and should be glossed over.
Yes, you expect your forward to run forward when you attack but the timing and where he was running caused their centre back to slow and think about tracking Finks run forward just long enough for the pass from Junior to get to Lowry.
Maybe my expectations have gone up….agree that we would’ve struggled with duddsy incharge in that game, just expected a bit more from a few of the players
