I’m sure it could be checked to see if it has been AI generated.
I’d heard a rumour this was coming and that it would look like an AI piece.
Not sure how you tell the difference but it doesn’t have much feel to it
the whole feel around the club has changed so much, even the media team, actimg more like a business than the family club that we were.
Why is anyone acting like this wasn’t expected? Our owner is a multi billionaire who lives thousands of miles away. Of course the club is going to become more of a business.
It will be 6 defenders on Saturday wirh 3 defensive midfielders and Kone up front. If somehow we score early, Kone will be taken off to protect what we’ve got!
I am sure that your response is based on high emotion and the fact that you are as upset as I/we all are right now. But nobody will be hurting more than the players. My argument was a counter to the most antagonising poster on this message board, who suggested that we are stronger now than we were back then (in the same post he used Reach as an example as a player that made us stronger, who has been kept out of left wing back by a central midfielder). I don’t agree, whether that is down to form, the players that have left, squad harmony or all of the above - I think we are weaker.
We did not strengthen where we needed to. Had we signed Bradley, Taylor, Morley and a striker (like Wrexham did with Sam Smith) - we would not be having this conversation.
Rejecting £7m for Kone and not signing Morley for £1.5m, signing players for a combined total of £2m that have not even played. Norris is not a popular choice. There has been more negativity about him than there ever was with Ravizolli (once again, “be careful what you wish for”).
It’s disrupted the squad harmony and not improved us at all. I’d even argue that we could have done with keeping Butcher as a backup for the run in, especially now Scowen looks crocked. All these little decisions have left us worse off. Pattenden was our best right back, now doesn’t even get a sniff.
We didn’t need to disrupt so much. We just needed Morley and a striker plus Taylor/Bradley and a left back instead of a Finn Back.
I don’t believe you.
Plenty of revisionism going on here.
Opinion is often divided on here but posters were almost unanimous in their opinions that we should turn down the Luton bid for Kone and keep him for the rest of the season
the Bristol Rovers chap who won.player of the community was inspiring…fair play to him and great work.
I 100% agree that we should have turned it down. Kone’s goals were more valuable to us than a “potential” £7m. But since then, we have played Kone upfront on his own and not utilised him. He’s knackered. He’s been a pro footballer for 2 seasons, he’s not used to this intensity…and THAT is the difference between him and the elite. He will get there but we needed to protect him with a backup striker. We all said that too, we could all see it but we bought nobody and loaned out Hanlan.
You also can’t tell me that Kone’s head has not been turned. He was earning nothing from football, and Luton would have paid him £10k/week+! In terms of salaries, he was probably earning less than any of us 2 years ago. To have that sort of money waived infront of you and to not get it is not going to be easy to deal with.
I find the suggestions that Kone has “had his head turned” deeply disrespectful.
Fantastic achievement by Rich on getting young player and player od the season for.league 1…hopefully will.give him a massive confidence boost
He remains the most professional and grounded given where he has come from. You are not human if that doesn’t turn your head. You wouldn’t know as you’ve got a sausage for your head @CornDog so your head looks the same 360 degrees Joking of course.
In the meantime, he’s just swept up at the EFL awards and I couldn’t be happier for him.
I shed a tear when he came on and scored 3 against Posh. A truly magnificent football story.
I agree we had to keep Kone and also that he has not been utilised properly recently. People forget he was an impact sub replacing Udoh in a lot of games early on. I also don’t think he stopped playing after being denied Luton gold. Injury and tactics have reduced him.
Other opinions are available.
I believe used words to that effect. Perhaps not quite right but WWFC turned down a chance for him to play championship football with a manager who was helping him develop at a fantastic rate. Then he gets worked into the ground in a system that doesn’t suit him. He looks frustrated and short on confidence out there now which is sad to see.
When he goes in the summer he won’t remember us as fondly as he would have done had he gone to Luton.
With all the loyal club employees working on the media team, why on earth is Big Brother Lomtadze and his aparatchiks getting the old versificator out of the loft to write a statement following a disappointing defeat?
Suspect if we ran a few more through the checker they’d also be found to be AI generated.
Wycombe gave him a chance for League football and to have a promotion on his CV rather than join a relegation threatened Championship team. He may still have made the right choice in staying. He can go on to great things next term.
Everyone’s head looks the same if it’s turned 360 degrees
