Going way back to @Johnny7 ‘s comment. Safe pairs of hands tend to be older managers who would never work under ‘datadan’ or his ilk. You mentioned Warberton but I first became aware of data driven management when he got the push at Brentford because he wouldn’t play that game. Seem to remember most were put out at the time as he was deemed to be doing a decent job - in The Champ. And just look at Brentford now.
This season is blown, it’s sad, I’m sad (for reasons beyond results -
/ league position) about the condition of my (is it still mine?) club. But we’ll go again next season and get behind whom ever is wearing the quaters to top this (our 2nd or 3rd best ever?!) one.
There’s certainly more to the Christian faith than just being nice to eachother, but GA’s approach is closer to the Christian ethic than Harman’s.
Absolutely right. As far as I know we haven’t blown promotion yet. Who knows we may go up automatically or even by the playoffs. Reading some of the negative posters on here , we have absolutely no chance of promotion.
So why have the academy staff taken a team of trialists to Copenhagen for three days? There’s clearly more to the Danish connection than trying to woo a manager. I suspect Rice has identified Denmark as an undervalued market. Ultimately, that’s where his skills lie.
I’ve spoken to someone who met Grimmer & Scowen leaving the stadium on Saturday. Both were still adamant that it wasn’t a penalty - and that the ref made the wrong decision - a good 30 minutes after the final whistle.
Good point and I didn’t mean to infer this had changed in the meantime. As you say, all new signings seem perfectly decent characters.
Certainly doesn’t seem undervalued in terms of the first two signings. Quite the opposite.
The data would probably point to a very naughty Danish man instead.
Whilst I agree that Anders & Magnus have been underwhelming, I think you are being harsh about Back, Lowry & Berry who hadn’t played a lot of first team football before their arrival & haven’t played much since; though particularly Back looked decent in his one start.
As for Norris I don’t agree that he is a miss but he is no improvement on Rav.
Simons is a bit of a curates egg, when his head is on straight he looks like the midfield answer we were looking for but unfortunately he seems to have a hairline trigger in the red mist.
Yes Bradley, Taylor & Reach have been hits.
Just because players might experience issues, doesn’t necessarily mean they might not be characters you’d want around the club.
Eg in the case of Lowry, I noticed he was the first substitute, to join in with applause that broke out when a big screen memorial was shown at half time at the Lincoln game.
Oi! Nothing wrong with satanists, in fact most of them are lovely people who would hate to be associated with someone like Dan Rice.
If Dan Rice’s skills lie in Denmark, I wish he’d fuck off to Denmark.
Dan being short for Dansk.
WAKE UP, SHEEPLE.
How can you write most of the signings without a decent time in the team? I thought for a start Fin Back is a very good prospect, Simon’s is always on the border of a red card but a quality player just needs to calm down.
There have been plenty of examples of teams collapsing at the end of the season but winning the playoffs. Us in 93/94, Oxford last season (in extremely similar circumstances), and Crystal Palace in 2012/13 all spring to mind. We still have a great shot at promotion in the playoffs
I assumed it was short for Danegeld - a large sum of money paid to Danes to not come over here.
Fair enough mate. My view is that any two sides are interpretations of the same reality - that Bloomfield was not welcome from the very beginning (which was what I had heard in the summer before the season even developed) and was made constantly aware of that, but given a kind of ultimatum (pay cut/reduced title) once he did well that was really more about plausible deniability for the hierarchy (hence them saying a contract was offered), which he could take if he would be willing to kiss the ring and have diminished pay and power which he did not want to do, hence Coventry/Millwall/Luton, and it was quite easy to then spin as him being inflexible and confrontational from the start, when really he was never wanted at all.
I missed the Reading game due to change in kick off - struggling to think of an offensive chant sung about Berry unless I’ve missed something !?!?
“I don’t care about Bloomfield
He don’t (sic) care about me
All I care about
Is Alex Lowry”
It’s not Berry. It’s Lowry.
Pinched from Spurs about Levy and Kulusevski. Pantomime silliness from teenagers that weren’t alive when Bloomfield signed for Wycombe. I don’t like the chant but sadly this generation have a bit of a creativity deficit and can only steal chants from other clubs on Tik Tok.
Given the nature of football we’ve got approximately a 1-in-4 chance
