I didn’t realise (until now!) that the ‘friendship game’ of 2012 resulted in the Owls pipping the Blades to promotion (?). No wonder they were so delighted we rolled over and joined in the party.
All the stats point to an away win but this is football sooo.
Duff needs a big response and ideally for us to collect a point or more ahead of a tough run of ding dongs against local-ish opponents. I really hope September sackings don’t become the norm.

Michael Duff’s tactics can sometimes rely on creating a sense of claustrophobia for away teams and they do have a pretty decent home record in general at Adam’s Park, supported by a usually vociferous crowd, providing that neither Liverpool, Manchester United or Arsenal are playing at the same time.
Although his research forgot to include Chelsea, Tottenham, QPR, Fulham and West Ham too.
I actually think a win tonight is not that unlikely. Wednesday might have stuffed newly promoted Bromley, but outside of that result, they’re not on fire. They won against Bolton in the cup in large part due to a Xavier Simons red card on 56 minutes, lost to Bradford, and won against a very average Orient team 2-1.
Can’t see anything other than another crushing defeat. If we can keep it to single figures that’ll be something. So I’m going for a 0-9 defeat.
Season starts on Saturday.
Even if the owls turn us into a giant pellet we can all convince ourselves that our new signing will take us to the promised land next Saturday.

All we can hope is that Wednesday, after Saturday’s pummeling of poor old Bromley, think that all they need to do against erstwhile Isthmian League stalwarts is simply turn up.
Very little of what I’ve seen this season has me hopefully of any more than grinding out a draw tonight, but I hope the crowd will at least get behind the team and fulfil our side of the bargain.
has anybody seen an interview with Duff before this game and what he thinks of us signing Wareham? It makes me think he won’t be our manager for much longer.
I think theres more things going on, with it being Transfer deadline day, and that any interview he does give could be out of date by the time its editted and released (either with a player leaving or maybe even another one coming in)
Or, Duff is just busy making sure they all perform better tonight than they did on Saturday.
