I would take the opposite view it wasn’t very very clever of the SW player. It was very very very stupid of the referee. Absolutely appalling decision

Their issue is that Barry supposedly caught his studs inbetween the pitch and the astroturf run-off. It looked innocuous at the time, but I watched the replay and I think they have a point about how dangerous it is.

Fair enough.
I assume there is some previous experience/reason behind the tiny grass off field area design, but it did surprise me that it wasn’t larger. I’d imagine they’ll fix/remedy/change it if it’s a big enough issue.
Stadiums with grass touchline usually end with a muddy trench down the side.

Has nobody ever seen the run off (aka AstroTurf slide) around the edge of Old Trafford?
If the match officials had any concerns about the pitch perimeter at AP they wouldn’t allow the match to be played. I mean they were pretty much spot on with every other decision on Tuesday.
Plus we’ve played maybe 30 games on the pitch as is so really is there an issue? I doubt it.

Thought Tuesday night was much, much better and overall a good game except for the soft pen, handball and the handball that never was. Thought Casey and CBM were excellent and liked the look of Malik too. Looking forward to see Wareham joint he fray on Saturday.
The beer in the Vere was good too, except for having two queues at the bar instead of the usual one, saw lots of folks just ambling to the front and pissing a few folks off in the process.

That looks bloody dangerous and it’s surprising there haven’t been more injuries. Sprinting full on then suddenly the pitch dips dangerously down.
Ours seems damn stupid too. Has it been like that in previous seasons? Or are we only noticing it because of this incident?

Firstly this isn’t where Barry rolled his ankle,secondly a linesman has run up and down there for over 60 matches since it went down with no issues. Not to mention ball boys, Harvie,Grimmer and dozens of other players.
Barry simply has ankles made of glass.

I like Duff. I also like winning games of football though.
Tbf one ball boy did take a tumble in front of the family stand. But I don’t think it was because of the Astro dip!

I was in the Vere before and after. It was lovely to get a seat for once as a lot of people were soaking up the last dredges of summer weather and drinking outside.
That giant screen is bloody marvellous as well.

I thought the fridges looked empty and they were out of J20s. Rice Out.

The pitch has been like that forever….ainsworth like a narrower pitch if people remember. Maybe duff prefers a wider one and that’s the reason it’s closer to the edge. There will be enough space for the Lino and run off, it won’t go straight onto Astro, that picture is from a corner or something rather than touchline.
