Was most enjoyable, first time I’ve genuinely enjoyed a game at Adams Park since the Portsmouth FA Cup game.
Wycombe excellent; the only time Chesham were on top was between their goals when it looked as if we might pay for not being more clinical.
Would love to see an official attendance, but 400-500 seems a fair guess. They deserved more there, hopefully the next round can be at Adams Park too if we get a home draw.
A thoroughly entertaining match played in a very competitive but fair spirit. There was a lot of hard tackling but it was only Chesham who kept going down with injuries. The Chairgirls are a tough bunch. After the break Chesham hardly had a sniff and, while everyone played their part, I have to single out @kpot (Kayla) who marauded down the wings and contributed a really skillful goal to put the game to bed, and also had two assists. This was a very good experience, particularly for the younger players, of next level football. Together with that battling display at Haringey, when standing firm against a physical onslaught from a team who look like a tier 4 side, they can look forward with confidence to the next round, and indeed for the rest of the season.
Here’s how the other Southern Region teams fared today.
Other local teams were playing in the FA Cup today.
Maidenhead United 1-2 Worthing
Sutton United 5-2 Penn & Tylers Green
MK 1-5 Luton Town
Beaconsfield Town 1-6 Chatham Town
Reading 1-2 Brentford
I think the Chairgirls are the last Berks & Bucks team left in the FA Cup.
Edit - Actually, Abingdon United, from Oxon, are still in and are members of the B & B FA.
The First Round draw will be late tomorrow afternoon, to be played on Sunday 26 October when the Tier 3 sides enter. It is still regionalised.
Thanks for all the updates. Oxford City away next round would be ideal for me and eminently winnable.
This is a very exciting WWW team.
Yes, relatively close for me!
Stop press! The Chairgirls have appeared in the 1st Round Proper of the FA Cup before, in 2006-07 when they lost 5-0 at home to Bedford Town Bells (not Belles).
I noticed last week that the chairboys.co.uk section on WW Ladies, from 2000-05, included FA Cup results. When they entered in 2018, I remember the Club, or the Trust, saying it was the first time the club had entered. I took that at face value but should have checked because all FA Cup results are now available on Wiki. I will gather up the extra results and produce a new list, in the next day or so.

The thrashing of Oxford United in the preliminary round 6-1 caught my eye.
Oxford City had a record crowd of 458 for their penalties win against Denham United, coming from 3-1 down with a 90+5 equaliser.
Some random thoughts about yesterday.
The attendance is listed as 252 on the Wiki FA Cup site. It looked more than that but perhaps there were a lot of player and club guests. If that figure is accurate, and we haven’t had the figure from the club yet, then it is a bit disappointing. Chesham brought a few, not as many as Reading last season. Perhaps the game the day before was a factor, people may not want two days at the weekend taken up with football. I think the game was given enough publicity. I note that the FA full time site still has the venue as Burnham. The club did ask them to change it but never did. It’s possible some floating fans turned up at Burnham, I hope not .
I thought both teams might tire given the intensity of play, and the sense of the occasion but, while Chesham seemed to run out of energy, the Chairgirls never flagged and kept going right to the end. Jess and Kayla kept making those lung bursting runs down the wing, Laura, Jordanne and Anisha worked incredibly hard to keep control of midfield.
The pitch was watered before and at half-time but I’ve noticed that the sprinklers don’t reach the extremities of the pitch. There were times when the ball looked like it was running out of play, only to hold up. Perhaps on match days they turn down the reach of the sprinklers to not wet the spectator and dugout areas. Someone said recently that the Northampton Town commentary team thought the grass was too long. Some clubs keep the grass really short, so it plays like a 3G pitch. Perhaps they have to keep the grass a bit longer until it is bedded in. There were no obvious divots at the end of the match, no harm appeared to have been done.
The crowd was fully engaged giving full throated support, including the Chesham fans. A lot of first timers will come back for more. The referee came in for some early criticism, failing to spot the lino’s flag for some time. When he did finally talk to him, he seemed to think it was for offside and not a throw. The Chesham coach was particularly vocal about this and the ref came over and asked him to ‘have some respect’. Later on he failed to spot the lino flagging for subs. The ref was a bit inconsistent with fouls, let a lot go but blew up for seemingly innocuous challenges.
We have to get the Chairgirls back home, WWF and WWST have to be working hard on bringing that about. Chesham United Women play all their games at the Meadow (which also hosts Aylesbury Utd), MK Women play all their games at Stadium MK, Maidenhead United Women play all their games at York Road. The Chairgirls used to play at Flackwell Heath many years ago but enquiries to them, and Holmer Green, a few years ago came to nothing. Everything has its price. For the club to really progress, the club need to be playing somewhere in High Wycombe.
The Women’s FA Cup Round 1 Draw is scheduled for 7pm Tonight on TNT Sports, as well as on their youtube page

Thanks @WilburJnr2025. One tie will be broadcast live on TNT Sports.
Really enjoyable game, great second half performance as well.
Thought Kayla Potter was a stand out but also impressed with Hoesli-Atkins sitting in midfield breaking up play all game.
Few gasroomers knocking about as well - have we sponsored a player now?
@StevePeart, @peterparrotface I agree - a really enjoyable game in which Wycombe’s fitness and nous told in the second half. Also agree about those stand out players. I’d only add Emma Delves at the back who was very composed. The Chesham centre-forward and keeper also impressed.
It was a nice occasion with a different demographic to the men’s games and the crowd positively engaged throughout. I agree with Steve that it seemed like more than 252.
Is that the Chesham number 9? She was excellent I thought. Worked the whole back four, always showed for the ball and the ball always stuck as well. I also thought the Chesham right sided midfielder was impressive.
Hopefully we can get a other home draw and do it again. I’m sure plenty of us there yesterday would tell friends about it and encourage them to come along
Yeah, that’s the one. And she managed to keep it going throughout, too. Agree about getting another AP game if we can.
This is our regional group.

On the communication with the assistant, the assistant has a button on their flag they press to signal the ref they’re flagging, the ref has a receiver that vibrates. The ref was saying to the assistant that he didn’t get the signal. Apparently looking over at the assistant is too low tech nowadays.
Oh cool.
didnt know how mental the first round draw is after looking at the full draw, but to be fair Wycombe havent been in the first round for a while.
Also we could face Hashtag United (the Team originally set up by Youtuber Spencer FC.)
After some further digging today on the FA Cup Wikipedia pages, Women’s F.A. Cup - Results and chairboys.co.uk, this is what I believe is the full history of W3 in the FA Cup. They started way before 2018!
It doesn’t let me post a Word table formatted, and the screenshots don’t line up - I will create a proper table in the editor at some point.
As we can see, W3 technically appeared in the Second Round in 1991-92, when the FA was experimenting with the competition starting off in the First Round with eight mini-knockout groups. They also appeared the First Round in 1994-95 (no qualifying rounds) and in 2006-07.
The few goal scorers we have in the early days is thanks to Gasman. More research is needed on the history of the club, the person I need to contact for that is Marion Lyon, a player from the late 80s and later secretary. If anyone knows how I can reach her, please let me know!
