Michael Duff

You are not always negative in fairness to you. You are being about this appointment though. I really don’t know who you expected us to sign ? Your description of his football seems overly negative too. His Barnsley side were fantastic and this was only a couple of seasons ago.

Well that won’t matter to you as you told us last week that you and your kids (poor sods) were no longer coming to games.

Although you do say that quite regularly.

Interesting interviews here with Duff from a couple of years ago, I’m definitely seeing some GA similarities

I’m just looking forward to something different. The last x number of months under Dodds have been really depressing.

Michael Duff sides have scored more goals per game than Wycombe per game over last five years so evidence to suggesting it will be drab.

Well that first interview certainly hit all the high notes. Grit, winning football matches, first team leading the way, the need for more energy. What is this Plan B script?

Welcome, MD2. I’m hoping you’ll be a significant upgrade on the previous model.

No one knows the password*, so hopefully it goes in the bin.

* Actually I think it’s “sideways” but keep that to yourself

He’s not been coming while that Ainsworth/Bloomfield/Akinfenwa/Leahy/Dodds is still at the club for years.

Ignore.

You’d suit Mikey.

To be fair, I think I could give a positive, optimistic, gritty interview promising blood sweat, tears and exciting football that would have the Gasroom on their feet…but they would be terrible disappointed once I got in the dugout. :slightly_smiling_face:

Here’s to the new MD and a rapid rise up the table!

I think today has been a very good day for our football club. No one wants to see someone lose their job, that’s human nature, but he had to go because we simply couldn’t go on as we were.

If we are to play the constitutional way of our team, and from what Duff alludes in his initial interview, then we’re going to be in good hands, as the majority of these players are surely pointy end of L1 standard.

However, I suspect there will be a lot more time spent at the weights rather than cardio for the majority of the team if indeed, this is the way forward under Duff’s leadership!!

It’s a risk…but it might just work.

Of course. If he had said ‘I want to lose games playing defensive football ‘ we’d all know it was Mike Dodds wearing a Scooby Doo mask.

‘I’d have gotten away with it if it wasn’t for those pesky development squad kids’

Looks like we hired in consultants.

Same Agent company that Connor Taylor is with.

No urms, no ear poking, no swaying, no talking absolute bollocks.

Finally a solid interview from a head coach.

Also, I think this has been overlooked - but at last we have someone in an off field capacity that has actually played professional football which I believe has been severely and glaringly lacking.

I also noted what he said about the youth development training sessions and getting in amongst it if required. I do anticipate lots of changes to staff within the academy over time.

I’ve been watching from afar and it was obviously just a matter of time before Dodds departed. Thinking about who should replace him there was one man who stood out as the right choice. That man was Michael Duff.

His last two jobs have patently not gone well. At Swansea the fans seemed to turn against him very early on. At Huddersfield he was very unfortunate. He was all set to sign Alfie May, a player he knew well from his Cheltenham days, when Birmingham gazumped him. Ironically May signed for The Terriers this summer. He signed Joe Taylor in January who almost immediately sustained a long term injury.

He did a superb job at Cheltenham and an outstanding one at Barnsley. The play-off final defeat conceding at the end of extra-time with ten men for 75 minutes was a really gritty performance.

Give him time and I am very optimistic about your prospects with him in charge.

Good Luck!
