I understand that, for some reason, dogs’ paws smell of popcorn. When I heard that on James O’Brien’s Mystery Hour and lots of people phoned in to confirm the truth of it, I regretted that we no longer have a resident dog to put it to the test. So, come on dog owners, check it out and report back asap with your findings. Slow news day. PS Since having Covid I have no sense of smell. Cuts both ways! ---

Football is an emotional game to support. Having loads of fans with booze ready just ensures a soaking. At least it can transfer that fear when you clock someone with a lidless hot drink behind you…begging your own team not to score until they finish! ---

Remember when 24 hour drinking was meant to bring in a refined and temperate approach to the demon drink? Instead it turned most town centres into foggy eyed hellscapes at 3am during the nighttime economy’s heyday. I’d rather we did something about the dreadful tea, coffee and hot chocolate than introduce booze to the menu. Enjoy your pre and post match beverages and give it a rest for the 90+ minutes. ---
