As the only poster on here old enough to remember the last ice age surely you realise that climate change is something that happens regardless of what humans do!

It happens/has happened in cycles of tens of thousands of years - not a century and a half of exponentially growing industrialisation. Sadly, only exponentially growing numbers of human beings have been capable of that.

See what I mean about never really having got to grips with the bloody things! Kindly stick to normal language, even if it includes statistics.
That is true, but if the vast majority of climate scientists agree that human activity is contributing negatively to climate change, shouldn’t we be doing something about it? Not that I think outsourcing our pollution to other countries is the answer, but we should still be looking for ways to reduce our impact

That’s like saying the best way to stop your car breaking down is to just never own one. Technically true, but I’d still say we’ve got a responsibility to look after the planet as best we can
I am currently reading a book on the Anglo Saxons (I know I am a boring old fart) and apparently in the winter of 763/764 there was a huge snowfall in the early winter which then hardened into ice and didn’t melt until mid spring. Most trees and shrubs died and many marine animals perished.
After the winter there was a severe drought and due to the dead trees etc, a great fire laid waste to a lot of the country particularly London, Winchester and York.

As well as we can. There are no comparative stages of best (if I’ve put that correctly). As best is best saved for the substance that causes lung disease.
But everyone apart from me and probably a few other linguistic weirdos say “as best” so I’ll shut up and go back to sleep.
