Pre-season games

Why would anyone expect fantastic attacking play. In the first real pre season fixture, with new players and likely a new way of playing.

Expecting that, would be a bit much

Pre-Bedwetters?

That looked…very bad.

So we scored against Brighton plus both Udoe and Kone should have scored . That isn’t the fault of Dodds .They both missed chances they should have converted. You expect him to solve a scoring issue in 2 games with multiple players never having played with each other before ,not yet fit trying to learn new instructions, 2 from the youth team and a different team each half ? I mean come on

Not sure I’m staining the sheets yet but a little bit of pee-pee came out watching the highlights of that lethargic and disorganised display last night.

I’m angry about something, I don’t know what yet
My summary of the above Pre-season review.

Think the transfer window shuts 2nd September and we’ll shuffle all the cards come January anyhow.

What good odds does anyone see e/w?

Our attack in general looks devoid of confidence and unclear in both their identity and plans. That’s the responsibility of the head coach/manager. Compare and contrast to Bloomfield’s attack. And the squad on paper now is supposedly better.

Bloomfield’s attack was faultering . The players have to take an equal amount of responibility for a mind set lacking in confidence . It’s part of their well paid job . They are not even fit yet , different teams each half , and youth team players mixed with new players . If we are still having this conversation several games in then fair enough . To have it after only the second 45 mins they have played with each other it just quite frankly ridiculous .

Apologies, I forgot players aren’t allowed to play together for more than 45 mins at a time and that Dodds has no say in this.

Also, I’m not asking for us to be prime Barcelona. I’m not even asking us to be as good as we were 9 months ago. I’m just desperate to see some progress - ANY progress - from the unwatchable dross we’ve been served up since he’s been manager.

The Scottish lad who joined last year interviewed on Wanderers tv after the game said something along the lines of ‘the manager and coaches have provided us with loads of information on how they want us to play and we are trying to take that on board’
Either genius route to promotion or analysis paralysis but more likely somewhere in between.

Surely pre-season games are for trying stuff out, different formations, combinations of players, tactics etc. & the results are less important than the progress from game to game; provided we see a progression.

I still have faith that Dodds & his team of coaching staff will get it right when we get to the first game of the season.

Don’t disagree. But League 1 players should beat National League players. Both teams are in pre season and trying things.

I honestly don’t care if we beat them, but I’d expect us to look better than them in terms of creating chances etc.

Reminds me of the Tony Adams quote “I’m telling the players what to do, they’re just not doing it.” er…

Will we get another famous quote from Tony Adams this season

“I’m now building a team ready for League 2 next season……” (in the middle of November!)

If Dodds is building a team for League Two next season then I’ve misjudged him; his record so far makes him seem the ideal manager for the job.

It’s how every manager at every club builds up their “minutes” .It is pre season and the first proper pre season friendly at that. If you expect a change so early you are not looking at it with any degree of rationality in my humble opinion . Especially considering the changes in personnel
. Untimately you will either be proved correct or look a little silly . Either way with only one pre season friendly on the board it is way too soon to be sounding so desperate . Take a chill pill and see what is happening after a few league games .

Definitely the rational, objective voice of the Gasroom

Unbelievable. Giving up on that season so early.

And playing a back 4 of teenagers at one point.
Peeing off Simmo and Currie, saying they’d both given up.
Lining up in training asking who is Henry, Bergkamp etc as if they’re 10 years olds down the park.
“I’ve done my budget”, up there with the all time best Wycombe related quotes.

Dreadful times, after those initial utterly misfounded pangs of excitement at bringing such a big name in.

Sorry didn’t mean to bring back the bad memories that most of us have blocked out like some early years trauma…

Tony Adams = Cockney rhyming slang for cnut…
