In the spirit of friendship I would like in advance to welcome all Wanderers fans to NYS this coming Saturday.
If anyone needs help or advice on Saturday’s game please reply but I’ll try & address the main points.
If you haven’t bought a ticket in advance from your club the pay on the day price is £2 higher.
Our away stand is very good, covered with decent food & drink options (though I wouldn’t bother as it’s standard fayre at inflated prices)
Parking is varied but if you’re after a spot in the car parks near the stadium get there early.
There is a multi story above the interchange in the town centre (10/15 mins walk)
We do an EXCELLENT printed matchday programme £3.00
The town centre is only a 5/10 minute walk away from NYS where there is more varied & far cheaper food & drink options.
I personally don’t drink but there’s a Weatherspoons in the town centre (Bluecoats) that is away fan friendly as is the New York Tavern near the stadium.
I look forward to see many Chairboys there, good luck for the rest of the season barring two games.
A lot of clubs cite cost as a reason to get rid of the printed programme but I don’t buy this at all.
If a club only sells say 500 just print 500, it’s not rocket science.
An online programme is not the answer, you can’t access a website to read an old programme & rekindle sometimes fond memories of a particular game/season.
This is not “progress”. This is deliberately doing away with what I believe is an intregal part of the matchday experience.
I know our editor & he assures me our programme is safe, but for how long?
A possible compromise is what I like to call the Harrogate experiment.
Harrogate Town produce a monthly printed programme covering all the club’s home fixtures for that month.
@BradtheMiller I do have a question - would you catch a tram or a train of maybe both to go to and from the NYS, starting in Sheffield? We are actually staying quite near to Hillsborough. I don’t mind walking but I think it is a bit far to walk all the way, especially if it is raining!
Also I do have a suggestion, would you make a prediction on our Attendance Prediction thread? I know that you have done in a previous season and you would be most welcome. I think that some of the Forecasters on here would appreciate the local knowledge of the likely home crowd.
Finally wishing you all the best for almost all the rest of the season, especially for games against Luton and Reading.
Straight after the Hayes debacle I used to sell programmes for the club. Prior to that the programme had been distributed by an independent organisation and for reasons unknown always made a loss. The following year after the Trust took over its distribution, I was told by an unimpeachable source that programme sales had made a profit of some £14k. However, as soon as the Couhigs took over it was canned possibly because of their ‘no cash’ policy. After this, it was mooted that the Trust should independently take over the programme lock, stock and barrel but ultimately it came to naught.
This is a personal preference and not necessarily the views of anyone else on the Gasroom but I would like it very much if Rotherham would take 3 points in both their future home games against Reading and Luton and away draws do the job just fine too.
