I want to be positive
I would love to believe that MD will go for it & we will get the best possible outcome
However I suspect both teams will make a raft of changes to protect/rest players for the play-offs
So I am going for a turgid 0-0 as a fitting end to the run in.
And I think there may be a minor error in the table. I once reached the dizzy heights of 5th place this season but now shows a 7th, not that it really matters. What does matter is we raised cash for a worthy cause. Thanks @DevC for organising and keeping it all updated throughout the season. Hopefully again next season? @micra it’s your prompting to say next season rather than next year.
Like the team, I was top two for most of the early season… before suffering a terrible drop. I kept assuming we’d keep scoring goals, i think. My bad, as I did not realise we’d been found out until it was too late.
At least the money is going to do some good.
A draw all but guarantees both teams get a home tie in the 2nd leg so it’s a question of whether they’d rather have that or risk going for a win, then lose and face Charlton with the 2nd leg away.
I imagine both teams will show some interest to start but if they’re level with 20 mins to go I think that’s how it will end. (Unless Charlton are scoring a hateful against Burton of course which isn’t out of the question).
I’d be amazed if there was a goal in a dead rubber. We don’t try and score when we need to so very unlikely that’ll happen in this scenario and 0-0 is enough for Stockport.
No dead rubber in my book. We should and must win to avoid Charlton in the semis. Orient and Reading are both beatable over 2 legs in my opinion. Charlton are,on the whole, better than us
