Scowen out for next season!

Been confirmed. ACL. 9 months at best. Most likely 12-15 months.

Not most likely 12-15 months. More likely 9 months.

Poor Josh. Just when the season could not seem worse!

I really feel for him

What’s his contract situation? I’d hope the club stump up a 2 year contract immediately. Some things have changed in recent months but I certainly hope our care for injured players hasn’t.

And unfortunately the challenge that caused the injury was deliberate with no intention of playing the ball. The player got a yellow card and we went down to 10 men for 30 seconds. Something wrong somewhere methinks

One person who should take some responsibility for Scowen’s injury is Will Norris. It comes from him having the ball in hand, and failing to execute a simple short throw to a player in lots of space under no pressure. Instead, the ball goes beyond Scowen, he has to stretch and it invites a very poor challenge. It killed an opportunity to attack, and much worse has resulted in a horrible injury.

Stupidest fucking post I’ve ever read

That’s harsh. Did you say the same when Grimmer played the ‘hospital ball’ to Curtis Thompson which effectively ended his Wycombe career?

Is this a wind up? It’s football. It happens.

Ridiculous comment.

Pretty crass comment. J J kicking a free kick into Bloomfield’s head effectively ended his career. Football is a contact sport…but no teammate would knowingly injure another.

Has to be a wind up comment

Just to be clear - I’m not blaming Norris wholesale for the injury, nor am I suggesting that he was intending it. I just think it was a very avoidable mistake, and a contributing factor. I’m not clever enough to know how to post a clip, but you can find the incident on the whole match replay at about the 36.00 minute mark:

I’ve been using these forums for a long time, and I don’t usually provoke strong reactions (especially from posters I like and respect), so apologies if this came across as crass. But it would be nice if we could go back to a place where if someone disagreed with a post they just said so and why. I don’t mind disagreement, but some of those reactions feel harsh to me.

Don’t often post and this is the first for me on 3.0.
I would just like to wish/hope that Josh’s surgery is successful and he enjoys a speedy recovery.
A rock on which much of the rest of the team is based.

Fair play, apologies for my harsh response. But laying any blame at all at a team-mate’s feet when the incident was the result of a really bad foul from an opposition player is, in my opinion, completely out of order

Terrible news for Josh and of course us (he is such a crucial player for us). What about the Orient defender? I am sure no pro sets out to put a fellow pro out of the game for 9+ months, but it was a reckless challenge that had no chance of winning the ball and was always likely to injure the opponent.

Just rewatched bits of the Orient game. Horror tackle. But it’s not until you slow it down you realise how bad it was. I feel for the ref because in real time it looks a regulation yellow.

I wonder if our medical team have made a huge error because they told Josh to run off the knock and a few minutes later he broke down completely. I’m no medical expert but that’s probably made it a far worse injury than it originally was.

I’d echo exactly this post @Glenny so apologies if I was a bit blunt too!

Deep down let’s all remember, myself included, we are all on the same team here but we are all really disappointed in one way or another with either the club, other supporters actions or other supporters comments.
