Really not sure how it was Dodds’ fault that Kone had an awful night in front of goal and that 31 attempts in total were still somehow not enough for a single goal. I am far from happy with Dodds so far, but last night wasn’t his fault. If the team had taken 3 of those as could be reasonably expected, we’d be happy with last night and looking forward to Saturday.
I’m one of Dodds’ biggest critics but last night he got the starting eleven right, he got the tactics right, he made the subs at the right time (they ultimately didn’t work) and his analysis post-match was exactly as i viewed it.
Utterly amazed he was criticised last night. In general there is justification for criticism but last night there was absolutely no justification.
Can anyone see the interview with Dodds on the club website? I see the link but there’s nothing on there. Could someone post the interview on here please.
I don’t see the need to pick anyone out to blame, as it seems more like a collective effort. The owners, management and players just don’t have the mojo to get promoted. Or perhaps the players are responding to a lack of any real desire from those above them.
I got a lot of downvotes on G2.0 for the ‘minor issues’ I listed the other night, but I would like to reiterate that we played well and that I share Ali Maxwell’s (NTT20) view.
I had the same problem several times recently. Then discovered that you have to scroll down to where sundry videos are assembled. Think that needs sorting.
Just one more on this. Our 31 shots apparently the most by any team in any game in League One this season. Quite how anyone can be critical about Dodds on Tuesday or any aspect of our play apart from finishing, or boo at the finish, really don’t know. Let’s hope we have those finishing boots on and support from all fans today.
I actually thought there was more booing at HT than at FT - quite unjustified in my view and it clearly angered GMac who was animated in his response.
Yes, we failed in those final moments (at HT) to throw a ball into the box when we knew time was running out, but the players were clearly trying to create an angle for the cross or shot.
Despite being absolutely terrible in attack, I thought that Shrewsbury showed a great deal of composure and resolution in defense. A legacy from GA and RD as much as a new manager bounce I’d say.
Sadly another symptom of the entitlement that some supporters can occasionally demonstrate. They come to think that scoring a goal and/or winning a game is somehow a given. Those of us who have been around the block a few times know that sometimes, no matter how much effort the players put in, the opposition just don’t allow you to score.
( Yes, I know we had several chances which on another day we could/would/should score).
Anyone who boo’ed is a total clown. There are almost no circumstances where you should boo your own team - and certainly not when you’ve had 30+ shots and been that unfortunate not to win.
In 35 years supporting wycombe have never booed and never will. 33 shots is not exactly not trying is it things might not be right but players are just as frustrated.
I really shouldn’t rise to the bait as it’s clear you were leading the booing from the terrace, but do tell me why?
When, despite your best efforts, things don’t go as planned at work does your boss boo your efforts at lunchtime or does he at least wait until the end of the day? It must be quite motivational working at your place.
Anyway I’m going to boo your response now whatever it is as it doesn’t fit with my expectation and I can’t be arsed to hear what explanation you give.
