Back when ‘little Wycombe’ battled against the odds one thing you could be sure of was the mutual passion and respect between players-fans-management that fuelled our success. Yesterday the travelling fans tried so hard to will the team over the line, but it just didn’t feel reciprocal. Too many on the pitch and on the touch line are seemingly going through the motions. Is it fatigue? Is it they are doing a paid job and just don’t love the club like we do? Is something else happening behind the scenes? Or are the tactics just inept?
The data driven game we find ourselves immersed in appears to have taken all the subjective irrational dreaming out of the success equation, it’s that imponderable spark that is missing and I don’t see anyone within the club who can inject it to get us over the line.
I’m really at a loss to understand where the heart has gone. As things stand no idea how we regain that unique edge that made the club so special. If by some fluke we get to the play off final I really can’t face another Wembley ‘no show’ which is what I fear.
Please someone offer something to cheer me up.

The team really were ‘Christian soldiers’ under Ainsworth. I’m guessing the weekly Bible study sessions have ended and the current lot only go to church for weddings and funerals. We need some baptisms in the Rye.
Or a Exorcism
