Time for Emerse Faé to wake up and get Kone in the Ivory Coast squad. They’ve got a player who plays in the French second division who could be swapped out.
Well done Rich!!!
Congratulations King Kone! An outstanding achievement, hopefully to be followed by a spectacular return to form for the play-offs. Hopefully he’ll be rested on Saturday and will be back firing on all cylinders on 10th May.

Wish they’d put this stuff out on a less nazi platform.
Long live the King! What a great story.
Well done King Kone. Ten goals in the playoff campaign please!
I’m not ashamed to admit I shed a tear watching the interviews with Richard. I find it difficult to control my emotions when he smiles. What he has been through to get to this point is difficult to imagine. His smile is an illustration of the triumph of his spirit against adversity. It’s both humbling and inspiring. I’d struggle to think of anyone more deserving of these accolades.
It has been a genuine joy and privilege to watch Richard in a Wycombe Wanderers shirt and it’s a bittersweet moment, knowing we have just three games left to enjoy his precious and rare talent.
I have absolutely no doubt he will smash it at his new club.
Yes, it was lovely watching Richard’s interviews, he is already a role model for so many! Congratulations to King Kone!! Less of this ‘at his new club’ talk!! He could still develop with us!
Brilliant post. Great to have you back.
And I echo @Sumo’s words.
An absolute joy to watch and a fantastic story that will be re-told many times, with hopefully many glorious chapters to come. Well done King.
Would be wonderful to one day watch him lift the AFCON. Then the Hollywood film of his life could be made.
Brad Pitt would obviously play me as ‘fifth fan from the left in the Origin stand’.
Wonder what odds I’d get on him leading his country to the first ever World Cup win for an African nation.
I see you think he’ll be rested next week and saved for the play offs
A privilege and an honour to watch Richard Kone this season. A genuinely exciting talent and a thoroughly decent man who deserves his award
I think very long odds indeed. I’m not sure the club have been very clear about his status but what I’ve read suggests he successfully claimed asylum to gain the right to stay in the UK. There is the interview he gave during the homeless world cup which may or may not give a clue as to his reason for persecution but putting that to one side, I’m not sure the Home Office would take kindly to him being welcomed back to represent his country in such a high profile way so soon after claiming to need to leave it. It would lead to difficult questions at the very least and quite possibly a publicity campaign from certain political elements on whether the wool had been pulled over the Home Office’s eyes. Again put to one side the impact that would have on Richard Kone directly - it could also have nasty follow-through for anyone else claiming asylum for the same reasons Richard did.
