Wycombe Wanderers Women

Andy, this is the schedule link - https://system.gotsport.com/org_event/events/56742/schedules?team=4278786

The Location link for that match seems to take you close to Barton Park Primary School playing fields. I think City’s main ground in Marsh Lane just has two 3G pitches.

Another one of our ex ladies plays for Oxford City, she also appears in the new series of Ted Lasso.

‘Ted Lasso has changed my life,’ says Oxford City goalie - BBC News

Robyn lives in our village and was at school with my eldest son for many years.

In the FA Cup 3QR the Chairgirls have been drawn away to Hammersmith, who play in the London & South East Regional Premier (tier 5). The match will be played on Sunday 4th October.

They have used two venues this season, Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub and University of Westminster Quintin Hogg Memorial Sports Ground.

Quite possibly, I am not up to speed with the ladies squad past or present or for that matter Ted Lasso. Really enjoy this platform though and seeing the updates and how everything is progressing.

I’d forgotten how much I enjoyed Ted Lasso having watched the first few series and then sat down with my son last week to watch an earlier episode.

W3 update from the Trust.

WWST have donated £20,000 to W3, same as last season. I know the playing budget is the same as last season, so they really are punching above their weight. Carl has done extremely well to strenghten the squad.

However, W3 need another £10,000 to break even this season and would like 10 more Chairgirl Champions at £375, which give various benefits - see link.

The Hammersmith FA Cup tie will take place on 4th October at Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub, W3 8LQ, kick-off 3pm.

I overlooked the U16s game last Saturday in the Berks & Bucks Girls’ Invitational Cup Group Stage. They beat Beaconsfield Town 8-1 at home. Presumably that was why the Oxford City JPL game was off.

To come in their group:
17 Oct - MK (A)
21 Nov - Oxford City (A)

The U18s start their Invitational Cup games next month:
17 Oct - Ascot United (H)
21 Nov - Hemel Hempstead Town (H)
16 Jan - Ascot United (A)
20 Feb - Hemel Hempstead Town (A)

Tomorrow the U16s continue in the JPL Cup, away to Oxford City who have lost their one game so far, 9-0 at home to Ascot United. Kick-off 10am at “Oxford City FC - Grass Pitch 3”, which appears to be at Barton Village Road Recreation Ground.

Last week the U18s finished their JPL Group as follows:

If there is progression from this group then I think it is only the top team.

They begin their JPL League season tomorrow with a trip to Cray Wanderers at midday, at Flamingo Park (3G), Sidcup By-Pass (A20), Chislehurst BR7 6HL.

Once again the U18s are in a top tier regional group. Vision Girls are based in Epsom, Surrey.

On Sunday the Firsts are away to Swindon Town in the League Cup, at Swindon Supermarine FC.

As things stand, the next home game for the Firsts is on Thursday 29th October, and the next Sunday game at home is not until 22nd November.

FT Oxford City 0-9 U16s.

FT Cray Wanderers 3-0 U18s.

Tomorrow the U16s start their league season with a trip to Regent’s Park, who drew 3-3 at Aspire last week in their first game. Kick-off and venue unknown, likely to be at The Hub in Regents’ Park.

The U18s don’t appear to have a game.

On Sunday at 3pm the Firsts are away to Hammersmith in the FA Cup 3QR. Preview to come but I thought I would show you the venue.

Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub in Acton is set in an attractive 150 acre park and the Hub building houses many different sports. It has a cafe which should be open so, with the forecast warm and dry, why not get down there early to enjoy a stroll round the park? I hope to be there, time permitting.

This is a true A40 derby, just 40 minutes from High Wycombe, turn right at Hanger Lane Gyratory and a couple miles down, just past the Embassy of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea! I believe the match will be on one of the caged 3G pitches, so no seating as far as I can see.

All that lovely grass but they have to play on 3G!

I suspect the grass is not so green at the moment.
