I have been guilty of posting in the past that the OG are not interested in the history of our club. This excellent piece of work and other birthdate initiatives are being promoted by the clubs’ on-line channels today (along with quid a kid at half term), so, credit where it is due, perhaps they have a soul after all.

I wonder if we’ll have a hall of fame sometime to go alongside it. I don’t recall seeing on by the club previously.

First it’s was 1884, then 1887 now their is concrete evidence a Wycombe Wanderers was about in 1876.

We are the Roger Milla of football clubs !!

A great bit of work. For me, the names start to become real players I saw from around the 950 mark. So many I’d forgotten though.

Paul is still investigating. Even if games were found at the earlier date, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the same club as now.

True, but we have our silly little dreams.

I still have a 1884 top I bought about 25 years ago from the clubshop in my wardrobe.

For me the town had a Wycombe Wanderers Football Club in 1876, the two are already linked by name and of course Lord Carrington.

As this report was from Jan/Feb 1876 it’s highly like WWFC were formed in 1875 or before.

Not what the club needs.

We were finally seeing peace after years of battles between the 1884s and the 1887s we now have the 1876s running amok chanting about being the Disraeli Boys and calling Gladstone a twat or whatever.
