26 / 27 Tour de Season Attendance Prediction

Welcome back - Same compeition as last yeaar, same format. Everyone is welcome to guess the attendance for every EFL Wyombe game home and away.

Warning - this is where I ask you for something

I make the same plea as last year. I have thought about making this competiton sponsor a charity as does @DevC’s admirable Score Prediction Competition sponsor the Samaritains. I I an sure I am not alone in losing someone important to prostate cancer. I myself have been lucky and happened to take a test some years ago which caught mine early. About this time of year I ask please consider reminding someone close who is at risk or consider reminding yourslelf to request a test tye GP for a test. Everyone matters, Wycombe fans matter lots.

Gameplay: Each game will have its own ‘Match Day’ Attendance Prediction thread, anyone is welcome to put their best guess for the total attendance and the away attendance. Some time after the tame I will publish the Top Twenty - the closest for the Total Attendance, the Home crowd and the Away crowd. I have a rule that for a prediction to count in the Whole Season Competition it mmust be submitted at least one hour before kick off.

As last season the Whole Season Comptition will work off the Total Attendance predictions = at the end of the season everyone’s closest ten predictions are averaged and the winner is the one with the lowest average. I will publish on this thread the current screensot of how the Whole Season Competiton stands as each game changes it. For the first 20 games the number of ‘best predictions that count’ will be roughly half the number of games up to that point. Same as last

Please watch out for the Blackpool Away thread appearing in a gasroom near you shortly.

Now tce rules - there is no need to read them - certainly if you have played before and the important bits are mentioned above and I will quote in the appropriate match threads if a particular match is likely to throw up any of the unusual situations.

COMPETITION RULES

Deadline
All entries for each match close 1 hour before kick off.

Sell Outs
Entries close for the main competition if once I or @railwaybeth (my daughter) make a post after both clubs have declared a sell out. Any entries after that will be entered on the match spreadsheet but will not count in the season long competition.

Partial Sell Outs - the ‘pnl’ Rule
If one club declares a sell out some people will have a prediction of one set of supporters which is obviously wrong. As this first happened in a game against Oxford where there are three sides to every story people were allowed to alter their prediction, but only to change Oxford supporters into Wycombe supporters without altering the total. This seemed such a good rule that I have kept it ever since. Otherwise this rule holds:

The No Alterations Rule
The only exception is above. It is very easy for me to make mistakes and changing predictions would only encourage me.

Disputed Attendance Rule
It does happen occasionally that the ground announcer says something different to an official report. If so I use as official the figures published by the BBC. If they don’t publish the figures I will use the figures published by Paul Lewis the original Gasman on “Chairboys on the Net”.

A final note
IMy eyes are not what they were and transctiption errors are possible. If you spot one please let me know. Regular players will know that a VAR like process usually delivers some sort of satisfaction

Thank you for the timely reminder re Prostate Cancer, ever since I lost a friend, about the same time Bill Turnbull passed, I have been encouraging everyone I know to get a regular prostate exam especially those over 50, it is literally 20 seconds of discomfort for something that could save your life…

I will make my Blackpool prediction later in the week,
