So Duff confirmed today that Anders is not injured , massively concerning that Duff does not seem to rare him, in my view he is by some way the best CB we have, would not surprise me if Duff trying to get him out of the club, massive mistake in my view
I’m not seeing what you’re seeing. He’s good going forwards but only average in the air and is very slow to turn.
Seemingly growing his reputation by being out of the team for a while.
I think all our centre back options are a bit of a muchness to be honest.
All of them could suit being cover for the main 2 or 3, but none of them have shown much to suggest they should be mainstays.
But we’ll see what another month of Duffball looks like.
If playing a two I’d be half tempted to bench Allen and play two of either Hagelskjaer, Taylor and Casey.
I agree. I think Anders is pretty much on par with Casey and Taylor. However, all three of them are not as good as the three we had last season.
I can see Anders and Westergaard being loaned out in January.
The sad thing is that I can’t see us recouping any money for Anders, Magnus or Connor Taylor.
While all of our Centre Backs have some good individual qualities, none of them are the complete package.
Taylor - Has the height & presence to make himself impose his play on attackers but lacking on the aggression, reading the game & Mobility. Completely lacking in confidence after a good season for Rovers last year, not the same person currently.
Grimmer - He’s a RB playing at CB, leading him to be lost in what he needs to do. Doesn’t have the ability to play RWB and feels like he’s only in the team because of the armband?
Allen - Has the adaptability to play at LB, LWB & LCB and has played in all 3 this season. Getting very mixed messages on what he needs to be doing
Casey - Has the aggression but serious question marks over his ability?
Anders - Composed on the ball and willing to take it forward but doesn’t have the presence to challenge effectively for the ball
Skura - Raw and less experience than others above him. Has always stepped up to the plate when needed but unproven if he can do it every week. For some reason, Dodds & Duff haven’t trusted him so far.
I’m hoping that Declan Skura will play tomorrow evening. If he isn’t trusted to compete effectively against fellow youngsters - slightly younger than him, in fact - then it must surely be time for him to move on or, preferably, go out on loan until January. But we really must find at least a couple of central defenders of similar calibre to the terrific trio we had last season. It’s so glaringly obvious.
Probably need to dip into the loan market, and soon. We must stop conceding goals, otherwise we’re always on the back foot. Not sure about either goalkeeper if I’m honest.
It’s a low base though to be fair. Also, a huge downgrade on last season. We need reinforcements in that area in Jan.
Well we can’t until January.
I liked him playing a few Mawson-esque pingers against Exeter and going on the odd foray. But can’t get onboard with the ‘best CB at the club’ narrative that’s appeared via a few different channels. If he is then…
Any free agents?
I’d like to see us play something like this:
Van Sas
Huggins, Casey, Hagelskjaer, Harvie
Bell, Abbott, Leahy, Henderson
McNeilly, Fink
No Scowen’s stolen their places…*!
- we can still sign one over 21 player in our squad.
Does that open the way for us getting Elliott Moore in then?
All of our centre halves are poor. We’ve gone from having some of the best in the league to some of the worst. None of them are of sufficient quality.
Yes, he’d be a great signing
I wonder if these are those channels with a suspiciously tight inside track on news.
Just read that he seems to be finalising a deal to play in Saudi. Apparently his ex-boss Des Buckingham is out there and wants him. Looks like a big money move. ![]()
Id have Skura ahead of all of our CB’s… Taylor is incredibly poor, the rest haven’t pulled any trees up.
