Top Twenty for the Total Crowd: [8116]

Many congratulations to @Twizz Forecaster of the Week with a very useful score.

Congratulations to @Glenatico who had the only other score within one hundred.

I was a little surprised at our collective overestimate - there were a lot of us in the miss by 250 to 500 range. I couldn’t think of a reason, it couldn’t have been the weather, both West Ham and Tottenham playing on the Sunday so plenty of opportunity for locals who watch two teams.

However I did walk back from the ground to Lea Bridge Station through Leyton Jubilee Park about a mile away and there was a Eid Festival in the Park which was attended by thousands. It was as difficult to pass through the crowd as it was outside the football ground and many families were enjoying a post Ramadan picnic in the park itself. If ithat indeed was the reason for some ‘missing suppo then credit to Orient for attracting supporters from a broad range of local people.

Top Twenty for our very noisy Away Crowd: [1026]

Many congratulations to @wwfcblue who was closest to our very vocal number.

A number of us were quite close so congratulations to @OxfordBlue; to @Twizz. @Alexo and @williwycombe who tied for 3rd closest; to @Glenactico and @Bayo who were just one person further out and tied for 6th place; to @Mandown; @NewburyWanderer; @Ohandybaird; @Commoner; @micra; to @DevC, @ChipsintheAdams and myself who tied for 13th and to @Ozzie_the_Relaxed and @Ryan_W_Kirkby - all who were within 5% [51.3].

Top Twenty for the Home Crowd: [Calculated - 7,090]

Many congratulations to @Twizz, close and even closer on this measure than for the total crowd.

Nobody else was within one hundred on this measure.

Our Collective Performance:

Overestimates all round - but only a small one for the tuneful away support.

Been a few away games where home support seemed down on expectations. Maybe the mighty but Bayoless Chairboys simply aren’t seen as a big draw by other clubs.

Sorry to put a spoke in the works, but the BBC and GasMan say 8,140.

What !!!

Forecaster of the week AND my first correct score of the season?

I think I’ll quit now.

A good week for the family as @Glenactico is closely related to me.

Don’t think we’ve ever really been a big draw for other clubs, if you read things written on other forums. Also seems to apply to us at home, not a big draw and Adams Park often rated as one of the worst away days in the league.

Well done Twizz!

Much lower than most of us thought

Don’t quit yet! Wait ‘til I make a really really bad mistake.

I will do some revised tables to use for the Tour de Season competition for the Total Crowd.

@Twizz - looks like you will remain Forecaster of the Week with a good score and @Glenactico will have a slightlly improved score. Also it does seem that you were very cloose to the home crowd.

Apologies to all for not checking.

I am new to this @railwaysteve but I think you do an excellent job and I am sure everyone is extremely grateful for your efforts.

REVISED Top Twenty for the Total Crowd; [Revised to 8140 given by the BBC]

Many congratulations still to @Twizz with the 39 Steps away from perfection you are only a couple of dozen further away.

Congratulations to @Glenactico who is now 24 steps closer. The same applies to @bookertease who now deserves congratulations for being within one hundred of the total crowd.

Most of the predictions are actually end up closer as we almost all overestimated the total crowd.

I will use the revised figures for the Tour de Season update - probably Monday evening

REVISED Top Twenty for the Home Crowd; [Revised calculation 7114]

Now many congratulations to @Twizz who has an unlucky miss of just 13.

Congratulations are now due to @thecatwwfc and @Glenatico who were actually within one hundred of the BBC accredited home crowd figure.

I often wondered why we are such a bad away draw and I think it is the location of the stadium.

I wonder if we could build a “Box Park” like fan zone built from shipping containers. I know it is a far cry but something that imitates Newcastle’s “St James Stack”. Look at this….

Think the issue raised here was relatively small draw for home supporters for our away matches rather than away supporters at Adams Park.

For away supporters at Adams Park, issue if there is one is perhaps a mixture of relatively northern bias to Lg1, poor rail access from the North, poor parking and time to get back to motorway, quiet atmosphere and relatively unglamorous opponents (us). An away game at Wycombe to a Doncaster supporter may feel a little like an away game for us at say Port Vale or Mansfield - a relatively easy one to give a miss to.

If we are genuinely aiming at promotion to high Championship or even Premiership, surely far more likely they would have to find a new stadium (which would surely have to be somewhere adjacent to M40 near Handy Cross) rather than spending serious money on Adams Park.
