Berks & Bucks Senior Cup 2025-26

Bloody hell that took me back to my youth.

The Plymouth fans would love the late change!!

Knowing well the efforts of everyone at B&B FA for the 13 (I think) various formats of the County Cups and scheduling of officials and working around all the local teams needs to participate in a wide number of leagues, cups and pizza trophies on any given day of the week, I think that’s a bit harsh.

This is the cup we have entered our academy team into this season, chose not to play in for years, lost Keith Ryan to a serious injury once upon a time and the wished we hadn’t entered it that year and also played Paul Hyde upfront against Marlow in extra time many years ago.

A bit dramatic.

Granted, but none of that has stopped Wycombe fans turning up in numbers so far this season. Bracknell won’t get the benefit from that.

Reading are playing at Maidenhead the same night. They also have a Home league one fixture that evening.
B and B games for EFL clubs are Academy games. End of
No doubt in 10 years time we will have supporters asking that we rearrange a Champions League game against Barcelona in the nou camp because our academy side are playing a vital B and B game at Princes Risborough

I get that you’re not bothered but it’s clear others are. Is there no room for empathy here?

On this subject, none whatsoever
We now have more than one team and strangely enough they are occasionally going to be playing on the same day. The B&B is a competition that some of us of a certain Vintage hold in some affection but we are now a football league club. It’s 2025, not 1975
Nice if you can go to both games if they’re on different nights, we don’t rearrange the fixture schedule of a club in the third year of English football because their academy are playing in a county competition

With the long overdue Re-nationalisation of the railways, it looks like the B&B are returning to the 1970’s and pushing their weight around again.

Lets hope the huge 1970’s yellow numbers reappear on a Wanderers light blue shirt as well.

Yet tonight Chesham and MK play their 3rd Round match three weeks after the deadline. There is an accepted principle in non-league football that county games take precedence over all other games, but the days of playing county games on Saturday are long gone, so clashes are not so common. The danger is that the senior non-league clubs decide it’s not worth the hassle of entering, and take whatever punishment is handed out.

I think it’s tomorrow night just in case anyone reads this and decides to head over to The Meadow this evening

Thanks Eric, I’m getting ahead of myself!

Given their inception, presumably the Franchise don’t believe any regular rules apply to them.

And also that they are based in Milton Keynes, is that really in Buckinghamshire when it has it’s own Council etc

You could equally ask, why haven’t Abingdon and Didcot switched to the Oxfordshire Senior Cup (I know historically they were both in Berkshire but seems a bit weird them still being in the B&B all these years later)

Milton Keynes is very much in Buckinghamshire geographically, but politically it is its own unitary authority, separate from Bucks.

There is something rather surreal about the B&B and always has been. I remember in the 70s when we managed to go two seasons without losing a game in the competition yet we failed to lift the trophy on each occasion. Classic baby boomer B&B Wycombe Quiz question that one.(Nothing to do with penalty shootouts)

Wasn’t that because the B&B FA said we couldn’t play in the London SC so we refused to lift the trophy?

Yes, that was in 1975. It was after we beat Thatcham at Chesham in the final.
The following season we got to the semi-final, ironically away at Chesham. We won the game but then had to withdraw because we discovered that we had fielded a player who was already cup tied.(Graham McKenzie)
Funny I can remember stuff like this yetI had to think for a few minutes when someone asked me on Saturday who we beat at Adams Park the previous week.!
