But what about us “exiles” who live further afield?
The Project has lift-off! I wonder if Headmaster Duff will be tempted to take a closer look at some of his scholars in the end of season games.
Well done for holding your nerve, Chair Youth. Especially well done to the penalty hero, Defraine, a quirky character based on his appearance at Penn earlier in the competition. Crazy to think that game had over double the attendance of the final but I get the reasons.
Anyhoo, raise a glass and celebrate the boys bringing the B&B home to its rightful place.
Well done boys
Think of it as punishment for daring to leave the promised land.
We’ve got our Trophy back !!
Chairboyboys
…..and Finky
Fink’s value has suddenly risen by £100k
From Basel to lifting the B&B. A phrase that may never ever be uttered again. Good on him.
Chairboyfinkyjinkyboys !
Hungerford have just had two relegations.
Supporters I spoke to said it’s the best they’d seen them play this season
Well done to the youngsters bringing the trophy home.
Hungerford can be very proud of beating Reading and taking us to penalties.

Lifting the cup
Good team tonight
Ceefax Striker tries to back track unsuccessfully!
“Finky says if we all give him some money he can get beer”
Well, that was fun. The kids looked knackered in the last few minutes so it wasn’t that much of a surprise that Hungerford got back into it. But Defraine was superb in the shootout.
His first save was top drawer, set the tone.
Finally payback for the 1982 final!
Second-half injury time was a big challenge against visibly bigger men against our kids, it’s to their credit that we held on. The keeper Defraine’s relatively small frame made claiming crosses a challenge, though he was full of energy and confidence for the shootout. His second save would have graced any final and put us firmly in the driving seat.
A good night with some excellent football from the academy and a faultless penalty shootout. Injuries and physicality wore the younsters down, but in the end, justice was done.
It was my first visit, and I was very impressed with the Slough ‘new’ ground with its sports bar at the back of the stand and all-weather pitch..
Incredibly, if you look closely in the background, you’ll see that there were fireworks.
And quite right, too. Well done, lads.
