Tremendous evening at Arbour Park, Slough. The young lads putting their wits against a strong, physical side. To win the cup is fantastic & they will learn so much from this experience.
Donât believe everything youâre told.
Just checked the recent league status and they were relegated from National League South in 22/23.
Three years later they had relegation confirmed last Saturday with two league games remaining.
Not successive relegations.
Great win and massive positive learning experience for the Academy players. Just wonder how Fink is feeling having to play with a load of kids. Probably not what he signed up to.
Depends on his personality.
I had a similar discuss with the then Amersham striker Tabor when he discussed his trial with us while Kone was here. Kone was put up top and eventually signed whereas it seemed Tabor was put at right back.
He complained about not getting a chance because they played him in the âwrong positionâ.
My argument point, as it would be with Fink in the B&B final would be - you need to play were ever and whenever the manager calls you to - be ready. Show the right attitude.
And in Finks case - we are putting a lot of trust in you. You are a player thatâs signed for big money and the younger kids your playing with will see your attitude and application in this competition and remember it for the rest of there careers. They in a stage of their career that they will be influenced by those around them.
So you have 2 choices: show us the attitude you want to be here and lead this team. Or sulk.
FWIW, I donât think they would have put Fink in the side if they thought he would be a negative influence on the kids. The work they are putting into the academy players would, to my mind, be more important than potentially upsetting them/parachuting a bad influence into a dressing room.
I heard a rumour that Rob Couhig had bought the fireworks to use after Reading beat Hungerford in the semi final, but then they lost so he gave them to Hungerford so that they could be used after the final.
Parade them around town on the back of a van, like they did with the 1981 Schools Champions. Some talent hanging on there, including Mark West, Kevin Keen, Graham Bressington, and Keith Dublin.
1981 youth team clings on for dear life as a van hurtles around Wycombe town centre.
2026 youth team fly business class to Singapore to play Kashima Antlers
Things really have changed.
How was Fink last night anyone that went?
He was fine. Not outstanding, as maybe you would expect as the only âfirst teamâ player. But no lack of effort and looked genuinely pleased for his team mates at the end.
In the Jeremy Sauer interview he says that the youth team needs abuse from the stands to toughen them up.
chairboys80, your time has come.
WWFC is looking for a new head of youth development. The successful applicant must be comfortable shouting Youâre Rob Quinnâs Mate at teenage boys while flicking the Vs at them.
I think it reflect well on Finnâs character that he turned out with the kids.
And he gets a medal I assume.
Totally agree.
He played his part last night. I also noted as we won on penalties he didnât go with the kids to celebrate with the fans but went straight over to the Hungerford players and shook hands, patted on the back or had words for them. I thought that was very classy and Iâm sure was appreciated by Hungerford.
Iâd love to see him given starts for the next three games and at least 70-80 mins.
I think if anything it will further deflate his confidence.
Exactly, if this isnât a message from Dan to Brad I donât know what is. Good on him for turning out though.
Wouldnât have looked good on his record if he had refused to play.
Worse than that. It would surely have been an absolute disgrace for a player costing the club a small fortune (relatively speaking) and with so little reputational credit in the bank to have refused to play.
Do you think maybe Lowry refused to play?
He was getting the beers
