Blackpool fan in peace

It’s just been announced that we’ve signed your goalie from last season Ravizzoli. Any decent?

Like any keeper he has his weaknesses. Isn’t the most commanding of his box and kicking wasn’t always great, but most fans don’t think he did anything wrong to lose his place and aren’t convinced the guy we got in to replace him was any good!

I think he’ll do just fine for you.

Great lad with great attitude. Good distribution and top notch shot stopping. Main weakness is in the air, but he did an exceptional job for us overall, and our 87 points in 45 games over 2024 was mostly with him between the sticks.

Good luck - Blackpool fans are brilliant, especially for what you went through in standing up to the Oystons. You lot deserve any good thing that comes your way!

Loved the guy, was unfairly replaced by a shiny new signing, and that never sat well with me.

Hope he does great with you guys

He was the keeper for the barnstorming first half of the season and was not the keeper for the damp squib second half so make of that what you will. Goalies always get stick and are never quite good enough for most fans so we shall see. I think he’ll do all right for you.

Glad he’s a decent keeper and regarded highly by his previous club, until now we didn’t have a registered keeper at the club. And thank you for the understanding about the previous owners, I hope you never have to go through that. Definitely a lot of rough patches, but one of the funniest moments was when we had arsenal in the FA cup, a Blackpool fan sat on top of the arsenal team bus trying to get the game delayed and ideally called off :joy:

Don’t ask whether he made a critical mistake in the 80th minute of our Play Off semi final though…

Looks like a good deal for both club and player on paper.

He’s a decent lower division keeper, not a brilliant one, but someone that could go on to thrive in the right environment - which clearly wasn’t the case in the second half of last season when he was treated poorly.

Above all he’s clearly a really decent guy and I hope he does really well at Bloomfield Road.

We now have awful owners of our own now, not Oyston awful but rather corporate, faceless, soulless owners who think they know better than everyone else (despite having no requisite experience) and have disconnected the club from it’s community roots and disrespected everything about our prior culture.

The bloke at the top of the tree is a billionaire who knows how to build a company, so we are less likely to go under, more likely to resemble a boring accounting firm.

Good player brilliant at distribution not so good on crosses , all depends on the style of football you intend to play if it’s similar to wycombe at the beginning of last season you have a cracking player. if you sit back and defend not so good .

Echo everyone.
Unfairly dropped.
Trouble is, his weakness can’t be glossed over, if he comes flapping for a cross, it’s excruciatingly clear as day which isn’t a good look.
But other parts to his games are excellent.

Whilst I don’t disagree with those that say Franco was dropped unfairly, it should be noted that his dropping from the side did coincide with us have our best defensive record of the season (until Charlton and the end of the season came along)

Sure, that was also a period we had our leanest time in scoring of last season so we’re were set up to be defensively strong. But if number of goals being conceded is/was a worry I don’t necessarily think Franco is the answer.

Decent if unspectacular keeper. Always had the air of a number two keeper, even when he was first choice. But that’s just a personal feeling (one based on Paul Hyde and Martin Taylor’s of this world being unquestionable as first choice keepers)
Could break into being a number one but work would be needed. Otherwise an excellent number two.

Let’s not forget Norris let in a few clangers too. And that was when we played exclusively with 9 men behind the ball and gave up trying to score.

Franco’s a decent stopper and an excellent distributor of the ball.

Says you. Kids season ticket for £25 with a shirt thrown in. Regular updates and interviews with new players. Comments from Tom Stockwell who brings them in. Updates on relaying the pitches. Updates on the academy. What do you expect them to knock on your door every day .

Factually correct. Head says all this is positive. Yet, emotionally, we do now feel disconnected, just another ‘cookie cutter’ faceless club. Not why I became a fan.

I think he’ll be in a similar position to what he has been here with us. If you get Tyrer back then Franco will be the no2.

oh, 100% he had a mistake in him. I would class both Franco and Norris firmly in the “OK keeper for this level” Norris has an air of number one Keeper about him, that I’m not sure is warrented. Franco has an air of a Number 2 keeper - for me at least. Neither would be my first pick if they were in our squad. Which is ironic considering they both were.

I don’t think its a coincidence one has left and we have been rumoured to be looking at another keeper as a potential replacement.

I think he was always seen as a number 2 here. But took his chance when Max was suspended. Though he did was caught out at Wembley. The club then brought in another number 1 last season, but he got injured early, and Rav went back in again.

Unfairly dropped, maybe. But, just not sure he got past number 2 tag.

Franco and Max are adequate keepers in lower leagues but no where near good enough to be No.1s in a promotion challenge. In our case the hierarchy have decided Franco is not good enough as a No.2 either, somewhat harsh but possibly his error at Charlton justifies that decision.

Norris was disappointing overall when he came in. He made some good saves but too many errors and poor distribution ultimately contributed towards our slower attacks. It is right to bring in a new keeper with Van Sas hopefully the man to address a problem position over last few years.

Wow, they interview players and update us on the pitch improvements? I take back everything.
