Donât get me started on punctuation.
So many people canât distinguish between your and youâre; its and itâs; were, weâre and where; there, their and theyâre, etc.
If there was such a thing as the Punctuation Police, Iâd be a Detective Chief Inspector.

Dr Who has always been woke, right from the very start - travelling through space and time standing up for the oppressed while never using violence, except very rarely, as a last resort. Heâs even been known to quote Karl Marx.
When it was resurrected under RTD, there was plenty of wokeness going on - a more diverse cast, a very obviously pansexual lead character etc. And it was brilliant.
What happened under Chibnall was the writing deteriorated so much that the wokeness felt forced and jarring, as if annoying the Daily Mail (a very admirable pursuit) took precedence over plot and character at times. RTD is a great writer but his second term suffered similar issues, coupled with that ill-advised team up with Disney and some of the worst stories in decades.
But Who didnât go woke just recently, it was always there.
Hopefully whoever takes it on will keep those ideals but coupled with better stories, scripts and characters.

Indeed. I always considered Dr Who to be an âalternativeâ programme (before woke became a thing) that always had its audience and was always about challenging the establishment and corrupt powers. Maybe itâs drifted into so-called wokeness, I wouldnât know as I only dip in and out.
Personally I prefer the absurdity of stuff like Hitchhikerâs Guide to the Galaxy. There doesnât seem to be any room for absurdity and poking fun at our own self-importance and human silliness anymore. I guess thatâs too weird and woke a concept now too.

Even more amusing when someone tries to correct something which was correct in the first place.
âIf there wasâ is grammatically correct, and commonly used in English, especially in casual speech and informal writing to indicate a possible, past, or hypothetical situation. It is used when referring to a singular noun.
âWereâ and âwasâ are interchangeable in the context of your original post - both are grammatically âacceptableâ. For a plural noun, âwereâ is obviously the only option.

As @micra has confirmed, both âwasâ and âwereâ are correct, although âwereâ is more commonly used when referring to a plural noun.
Presumably, you would take issue with Princeâs âIf I was your girlfriendâ, or Bon Joviâs âIf I was your motherâ.
No I wouldnât, because I donât give a shit. As I said, I just enjoy it when pompous grammar monitors make mistakes. Which you did, and are currently doubling down on by highlighting your ignorance

Can we go back to the much more interesting debate on whether doctor who is woke or not?
Hereâs a starter for 10:
Being woke isnât actually an insult. It just means that you âhave awokenâ to the fact social injustices exist and if you are so able to, should help your fellow man to overcome such hurdles. (You know, like Doctor Who does. Constantly)
Therefor the the opposite of being woke is being an arsehole and those that have decided to weaponise the word âwokeâ to there own ends, are actually trying to deflect away how much of an arsehole they know they are and donât like it about themselves.

If âwokeâ means âbeing really nice and kindâ then weâve moved from not knowing how to use punctuation to not knowing what words actually mean.
Much more complicated than that, we have moved to how words can be changed, have different meanings and manipulated to mean other things depending on how you want to use them to attack others.
Eg: it is woke to want to let asylum seekers here.
One side says itâs because we want to help those less fortunate and have lived in war zones.
The other side says itâs because we want âfighting age menâ to come over âere and rape our children.
I wouldnât say either side has become particularly nice and kind these days, as everyone it too entrenched

Fortunately for me and unfortunately for the spelling and grammar naziâs, I can go back and edit that.
Grammar Nazis are still going to get angry when someone makes a small (relatively) inconsequential mistake that can be fixed but everyone else understood it anyway. But there(sic) blood pressure will always rise. Shame.
Also, I have a cold and side and said are sounding the same.
Iâve gone a few posts without posting something from an old sketch show. My chance has come!
