Club Watts App Site

The point is that it’s already all on Twitter and has been for years. This is for those of us who don’t want any association with EM etc.

Yeah, you can’t do it on Twitter anyway as Musk has locked the platform down in an attempt to monetise it further. You can’t embed smart links (YouTube, Spotify, etc) as he wants you to upload the media directly to them instead (so it can be used to train the immoral AI Grok). They suppress links to external sites and lower the visibility of posts that do include them, it’s all to try and keep you there.

I understand your point, and ultimately it’s that apathy that is keeping Twitter (X) going. Personally, I’ve really enjoyed BlueSky, it’s everything that made Twitter great at the start and it gets better the more you interact. There is no monetised hatred, so it’s kinda nice interacting with people again!

It’s essentially a Twitter clone without the bots and general vileness, give it a try if you like  https://bsky.app/

Well what’s the problem then? Stick to enjoying twitter - this is for those who no longer enjoy it.

Bluesky works for me because you see posts from people you follow, in chronological order. Essentially how twitter was before the algorithm started forcing you to read crap you didn’t ask for.

As a long term twitter user I might give Blue Sky a go as my frustrations continue to grow with twitter… Extreme left and right posters, posts verging on porn within threads, constant ads.

I follow nothing but football, news and gaming stuff.

If you see stuff that is forced onto you you’re either not using it right or using the wrong app.

I get that it’s rancid and run by a megalomaniac, but I don’t post, I follow and most of who I want to follow are on Twitter. Not bluesky

You’ll find Bluesky tracks to the left but the beauty of it is that if you don’t want to see stuff, you won’t. And if the Wanderers supporting person you follow also posts lots about stuff you don’t like, you can deal with that pretty easily too.

It’s completely unacceptable for me to be a statistic used in support of Elon Musk.

Out of interest, what app do you use for Twitter? I thought Musk had hobbled all the third party versions?

Be interested to know because I followed friends, sport and music and yet would also see posts from Dan Wooton, Tommy Robinson, Musk and Temu.

Twitter is a cesspit but most sports club use it as their primary means of communication. That includes WWFC and W3, so I have to continue using it. I don’t like posting Twitter links but sometimes our two clubs post videos only on Twitter, and not also on YouTube, which I think is more neutral (but someone is probably going to disagree with that).

Posted on phones made in China which has some of the worst human rights records in history.

I’m not saying Elon/Twitter is ok, absolutely not, but if you take a stand against him/it then you may need to reassess where you phone is made, where you clothes are made, where you bank, what you drive.
Wouldn’t want to be hypocritical :man_shrugging:

Aha, I can see why you like Twitter but you’re not getting me with your whataboutery.

None of us live perfect lives and I still think that making many small behaviour changes is worthwhile, even if they don’t add up to saintliness.

I think you forgot but what’s the name of that third-party Twitter app you’re using?

If you’re into games development, most of that community is already on BlueSky, I believe they were one of the first to “defect”.

I never posted on Twitter either and just consumed what others wrote, but that’s the difference I’ve really enjoyed about BlueSky. I am posting and interacting with others a lot more, and it’s rewarding to do so even when you disagree.

There is a small band of us who regularly communicate around WWFC and it’s nice to be a part of. If things like my bot can encourage more to join and start interacting I’d be happy, and it may even help the club to reconsider using the platform as well (I plan on reaching out to Matt Cecil to see if I can help).

Twitter is a necessary evil to many, but hopefully that won’t need to be the case in the future. It brings out the very worst in so many.
