Wycombe Wanderers Foundation are seeking fans to help our local community on Saturday 24th January ahead of our Community Day fixture against Peterborough United, by taking part in the Sands Wombles litter pick and donating non-perishable items for four local charities.
The club and its Foundation are marking EFL’s Community Weekend by showcasing the heroes who help deliver a wide range of impactful projects in the local area, with tickets available for just £10 for adults and £5 for under-17s.
The Sands Wombles are a team of volunteers who carry out regular litter picks in the areas around Adams Park, and invite fans to join them for their session at 10.30am to 11.45am on the morning of the game.
Supporters are welcome to turn up at the meeting point outside Millbrook School (where parking will be available) and support the project, with a range of litter picks, holders, bags, hi-vis jackets and gloves available to use, though you are also welcome to bring your own if you would like to. They also have some light-weight foldable litter picking trolleys for those who find it challenging to carry the bags.
Then, at the stadium, the Foundation will be collecting donated items for four local charities to distribute to those less fortunate, namely Wycombe Homeless Connection, One Can Trust, Wycombe Food Hub and the Foundation themselves.
In particular, the Foundation are looking for:
- Dried food
- Cans of food
- Packets of biscuits, cereal bars
- Individual soft drinks, jelly pots
- Toiletries for men or women
- Pencil cases with a pen, pencil and rubber
- Tea and coffee
