Just finished watching Dept Q last night. Enjoyed it very much, and while it’s got several well-tried detective-making-a-comeback themes going on, the acting and writing make it very absorbing.
Yes, I solved the main mysyery early on…but the performances and writing were excellent.
Matthew Goode was superb as Hollywood producer Robert Evans in the series about the production of The Godfather as well.
Wonderful song @Morris.Ital . Second only to Beeswing.
That is sad
Joking aside, this is my personal favourite from an incredible body of work.
A really sad week in music. We’ve lost two A-grade legends in Brian Wilson and Sly Stone, but also two more under-the-radar heroes in Colin Jerwood, the lead singer of anarcho-punk legends Conflict, and Douglas McCarthy, lead singer of British electronic music pioneers Nitzer Ebb. Wilson and Stone at least got to live to a decent age and have left behind monumental bodies of work, Jerwood and McCarthy were in the their 60s and 50s respectively, will never be household names but were hugely inspirational in their own ways.

For those that like sunshine… ahhh this takes me back…
Ramos,Supreme & Sunset Regime - Sunshine (Pa Kua Mix)
@micra have you heard the Christy Moore cover of Beeswing?
I have indeed. Excellent, typically emotional version.
Love this one as well.
And for good measure:-
I think the Whistlin’ Donkeys just edge it out of those two versions but I’d always go back to Richard Thompson.
New “The Bear” out, pretty good start to it.
Only halfway through but it’s already had a couple of my favorite moments of the whole run.
The Prodigy were absolutely unbelievable last night. Kudos to the drummer in that heat. Didn’t think they’d be the same band without Keith, but they pulled it off marvellously.
Sensational set, wasnt it. Still working my way through stuff I missed but them, Gary Numan, Wet Leg, English Teacher, Wunderhorse and Franz Ferdinand were all great. Fantastic to see Peter Capaldi joining FF onstage and looking ridiculously cool.
Conversely, what does anyone see in The 1975. The singer’s art school pretentiousness might be excusable if his band weren’t so utterly asinine.
And don’t forget to watch the grizzled old man…Neil Young.
Amazing set for someone of his age…and he married Darryl Hannah !
Which are the ones nobody saw who will cause me to swoon in terror. I understand some so-called pop singers said some things to a load of spaced out middle-class people that could bring down the nation. If this leads someone to go and destroy the IDF or throw a milkshake at Sir Beery Nigel, the BBC needs shutting down.
