DODDS SACKED

I wouldn’t want to be the next coach with this side…although I probably wouldn’t mind the wage and the future pay off

Because he’s a thoroughly decent chap.

I had a feeling that the Peterborough Game was Last chance for either Dodds or Ferguson

5 days ago you posted “Piss off Dodds….you are killing us”

Too late to play the nice guy now. Embarrassing

New coach in place by the end of the day? Surely they’ve got this organised this time around. It’s not exactly a quick fire sacking.

mike duff another name

Obviously, the answer is yes. Look at the performances / league table. Or is that all on Dodds now?

Feels weird as we haven’t sacked a manager/coach in decades.

Right decision, but I feel for Dodds. He was dealt a very tricky hand over the summer, given lots of new signings without any grit or steel at all. Our main man and leader in the middle Scowen is injured. Physical conditioning has been dreadful which again, he’s not in charge of. There’s probably some outside interference with selection and tactics too.

He didn’t do himself favours by trying to play in a way that is too tough to pull off in L1 - and in the end, there was very little style of play on show at all.

Sad, he seemed a decent dude with a good heart, but wasn’t cut out for the job at hand.

As the ownership are so focused on improving young talent, probably should’ve chucked a load of money at him to head up the Youth Development Department back in January.

intersting - his time at Barnsley and Cheltenham were really good but his Huddersfield side were so boring…I’d take him though.

The concern has got to be about how much control Dodds had around our style and ability to create a plan B (or not). My feeling was always that he was the perfect “yes” man for the powers that be. Hence why we bought in a man inexperienced in leadership roles.

I would be very worried that the same will apply for the next man, who will be powerless to make the changes on the pitch required to get us competing more towards the other end of the league.

That’s why it’s going to be so important whoever we choose is a brilliant motivator and man manager. Someone the players will run through a brick wall for, but who is content that he won’t get as much control as he would at almost every other club.

Throwing it out there - what about Sam Grace assisted by Sam Vokes and Garath McCleary?!

Maybe try to re convince wilshere

Also, I wonder if Selles is coming in - is there a Rice/ Southampton link?

lots of fans on twitter saying bloomfield should be the next manager

luton fans, that is.

It’s ultimately sad that Dodds didn’t work out, in patches we played some excellent football, but all too often looked, predictable, ponderous and one-dimensional. The Mansfield game gave a glimpse of how effective the players available could be with a smidgen of the pragmatism that was sorely lacking throughout his reign.

The timing is a bit strange in that we surely should have made this move before the end of the transfer window if the board no longer had faith he could arrest the slide. Maybe Rice’s long-term target is now avaliable, it’s difficult to believe Dodds wouldn’t have been sacked over the summer if Rice had an alternative waiting in the wings.

The fear is that we’ll go out of the frying pan and straight into the fire if another Dodds-type academy coach with little to no experience of senior professional football is brought in.

The bigger concern is whether our squad is too imbalanced for any coach to get any sustained success out of them.

Interesting we haven’t stated who will be in charge for Saturday. I’m convinced the next manager (sorry…I mean head coach) has already been appointed.

He was always going to be sacked, performance just werent improving enough.

I have nothing against him, and still have no issues with the appointment at the time.

Big appointment needed though.

Never really been that impressed with Selles. Hopefully not!

I don’t see this happening to be fair, I honestly believe this squad has so much more to give. Whether it’s good enough to compete at the sharp end, we shall see.

Wow. Incredible.

Had missed the tweet saying it was coming on the other thread, as tweets don’t show up well on my system without clicking into them.

But wow - we all knew it should happen, but no-one thought it would.

You cannot take over a team in 2nd and take that team towards relegation with so many high priced players. Whilst cutting out almost all goal threat.
