DODDS SACKED

He doesn’t fit our new footballing philosophy. End of. I’m sure we’ll get another relative unknown.

I think Reading might be ahead of us

I agree. The acadamy is at the front of thier thinking and they will not see Ainsworths style as a big sell.

Surprised this has happened so late in the week, but absolutely the correct decision. No mention of who takes charge on Saturday in the statement suggests to me that they have their man already.

Lommy gave him to the count of 10 before he got out his Tommy gun!

I think their silence could well have been due to their planning.

To be fair, I think that he would do very well for us

Gaz and Dobbo wouldn’t work under our current structure regardless of the offer, and Rice and co. would never be willing to hire them either. More chance Henning Wehn getting the job.

Why does this just make feel sad?

Dodds wasn’t the right choice, was and set up for failure from the start by Rice.

A great person by all accounts, so I hope he bounces back well.

Interesting to see Pete follow him out the door, I heard from insiders he was truly inept, and that most of his experience was in relegating clubs alongside Rooney.

Just hope we get someone who understands the need to mix up styles of play at this level and injects a bit of steel to our play.

It would be nice to think this is the first step in regaining some of our club culture but that’s probably wishful thinking.

Fair play to Mike though, that’s some pay off he’ll be taking after signing a 3 year contract!

Well, that was a surprise! All the best Mike for the future, thanks for your efforts and endeavours.

I hope we recognise that we need someone who has been in and around a first team environment either as a player or a coach. I don’t mind a first time appointment per se, as there is enough time this season for them to learn.

Be interesting to see who is in interim charge, Dan likes an interim role but I suspect it will be his good mate Harry Hudson who might get the nod. Be nice if Sam Grace had another little stint in charge.

If the style of play is being dictated from above then I’d be happy to see Caldwell from Exeter or Skubala from Lincoln come in of current managers.

I suspect Adam Hinshelwood to be unveiled shortly though

I wonder where history will place Dodds in the pantheon of Wycombe managers. On a par with Smillie (lots of similarities), but above Adams and Sm*th?

Anyway, I wish him all the best in the future, as other have said, he’s a nice guy and a good coach, just not a head coach.

To be fair managers tend to get boat loads of money when they are sacked.

If Man United sack Amorim he gets £12m

He’s probably trying to fathom out what went wrong!

To be fair, the last time a Wycombe Wanderers manager was sacked, his name was improbably touted then too. Though we might have a bit more dosh to offer this time around than just a bucket to do his business in.

It’s the Peterborough debacle that’s done for him. His comments post Mansfield were worrying, ‘there are things I didn’t like that need fixing’. We all knew what was coming, and so it proved. Nice guy, but not a head coach. I’m genuinely sad it didn’t work out, but I’m sure he’ll do fine.
