FA Cup 26/7

Draw for first round is on Monday seemingly not on terrestrial TV - bah….

Gasroom tradition surely to say what team you want while secretly knowing it will turn out to be Doncaster (a)….

For me it would be Plymouth Parkway as far as I know the only English team named after a road!) away - watched them reach the first round for the first time yesterday.

Doncaster (a) on the Saturday would work well for me: I’ll be in Hull the night before and heading south on Saturday.

Am I the only one who would wish that they would go back to regionalised round one and two draws which we had up until around the mid 90s. ?

Aldershot or forest green rovers for me

I’ve got family in Hampshire and some good friends in Stroud, and league games against either one seem unlikely for the foreseeable.

I’d love Carlisle away as I could watch it with my parents and they’d be in the home end.

Doncaster would be preferable to the inevitable Luton or Stevenage away.

Ideally a non league team away to get us on telly, with Oxford City the pick of the pack.

Chesham would be great if they can beat Forest Green in replay

You do have a club named after a road and it’s actually got the word road in its name.

I’ve been to Maine Road to watch a game some years ago when it was about the only game on in the Greater Manchester area.

My hopes: C*lu away (for old times sake), Newport (as I’ll be in S.Wales that weekend) or Harborough Town as I have a mate there and a place to stay.

…but we all know it’ll be Stevenage away.

Had some scary visits to Col U. I seem to remember a wild eyed young girl frothing at the mouth trying to rip through a wire fence with her bare hands to get to us. I pretended I wasn’t scared, but there was something of the ‘Exorcist’ about her. Another time, a thin blue line of police fought with the apes to stop them getting into our enclosure. Thankfully they kept them at bay. It’s probably nothing like that now.

Luton at home, it’ll be Luton at home, it’s always Luton at home.

York away to visit the new ground there would be great.

This sounds like the 2-0 win there in 93/94 when the ref blew up early in added time after a group of home “fans” invaded the pitch and set off for the away end. Two of them, one possibly a woman, got close to us and the shear hatred in their eyes was almost demonic. I think they were wrestled to the ground by the police. One the the scariest moments I have had watching football.

That’ll be the one Steve. Interesting times.

Berkhamsted away for me. I grew up in Ashley Green just across the border in Bucks but drank many beers and went to many parties in Berko as a teen and had a number of friends at Ashlyn’s School. I still visit several times a year and have a fondness for the Rising Sun on the canal.

I’m away with the kids in Egypt, but get back sat 7th night. So would love Marine away, or fc United away on the sunday.

Oxford City are my second team, and local to home these days. So I’d be very happy in a can’t win/can’t lose kind of way if the mighty Chairboys headed over to Court Place Farm.
