Farnham Playing Fields update

Yes 'cos it’s in Slough.

The proposed Academy is in Farnham Royal, inbetween Slough and Beaconsfield on the A355 about 11 miles from the centre of High Wycombe.

It is not in Farnham, Surrey which is over 40 miles away from High Wycombe.

Am not sure they would be able to build a stadium near the Academy but if the Portman Estate wanted to sell some land up near Junction 2 of the M40, I could see that being a viable out of Town ground, although I would be very much against it. We should remain in High Wycombe.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it’s about time the council do all they can to help its biggest asset after years of neglecting it.

Is it still a tory led council? Because don’t hold your breath if it is.

Yes fully aware it’s not in Surrey, but I sure as hell wouldn’t be watching Wycombe if I have to travel so far in a car. It’s enough of an effort at times now and I can walk there!

50 of the 97 councillors are Tory.

To be fair, it was Wycombe District Council that refused us planning permission for Adams Park etc. Its now Bucks Council, which is a different lot of Torys. Although I would agree about not holding our breath,

Interesting documents. If you want a look it’s mainly all contained in the outlook planting plan sheets 1- 6.

Or in the landscape site wide plan for all 6 together.

Main points are:

100m by 30m performance building

Surrounded by 9 outdoor football pitches

First team pitch 1 (goodbye Marlow)

First team pitch 2

Academy pitch 1

Academy pitch 2

Academy pitch 3

3G pitch

Show pitch

MF pitch 1
MF pitch 2

There is also next to this 1 indoor pitch

The show pitch has a stand of 3 rows total 246 covered seat.

On the far side of the plot there is also a new 3G pitch and 6 indoor padel courts as well in the section that is the community hub

Sounds extensive. Really like building a big training centre for all.

Also Sounds like it could be impressive.

Reading that it does bear saying once more that when Lomtadze gets bored and moves on, unless we’re out of League One, no one in their right minds is going to want to buy a low level, low fanbase club with Premier League facilities.

Maybe that’s why they’re taking their time with this head coach position. We really need to get it right this time and start climbing that table.

Is it Wycombes biggest asset though?

I’m sure we think it is but the fact we only get 5k through the doors suggest most don’t.

I’m not sure of what could be regarded as Wycombe biggest asset, but would suggest WWFC isn’t close to being regarded as the areas biggest asset by the council.

I think he was referring to how quickly your apathy came to the fore rather than him being happy if the club played outside of Wycombe

If anyone can think of one, let me know. I’d say it’s definitely WWFC. What else brings thousand of people to the town every other weekend?

The problem is they don’t come to the town, they go to a parking space in Sands and walk to the ground and then go home. Wycombe gets very little benefit.

Of the 5500 who come to the game every other week I would be surprised if more than 3-400 actually stop in Wycombe town centre.

Wycombe Swan will pull in more people to the town centre.

Wycombe Swan has a capacity barely larger than that of the reduced terrace. I’d also wager a lot of people drive in from nearby for events there, and never visit anywhere else in the town centre either.
