Farnham Playing Fields update

By my very rough reckoning Farnham Park seems to be approx 10.1 miles from Adams Park.

Why would the football club be getting involved with this site if it wasn’t thinking about a new football ground?

It baffles me why the article on the club’s website talks round the houses about a multi-sport set up, without mentioning anything about a new stadium, except the cryptic ‘long term home for the football club in Buckinghamshire’. The FAQ doesn’t even address the question any football fan is going to ask - is this about a new stadium?!!!

Do we really have to wait months for initial design ideas before we know for sure?

I’m trying to remember some of the details from the Hayes dome era, but can’t remember how we are set up now to avoid moving away from Adams Park. Can WW move this far and still be WW? It’s not exactly Wimbledon to Milton Keynes. Does the trust get a say? Will this come down to another gun to our heads question ‘ do you want to move to the mega-stad in Farnham or should the owners pull the plug?’.

Perhaps the Council are interested in acquiring Adams Park? Wasn’t it suggested a long time ago as the new hospital site? They would obviously need a lot of the industrial estate, plus construction of the new access.

Google maps makes it just over 13 miles (by road) from Adams Park to Farnham Park Playing fields.

Hopefully their statement means a “long term home“ for the academy, because that’s way too far from Wycombe for any new stadium.

We all know they read the Gasroom. Would be very easy to come out and confirm that Wycombe Wanderers football club will always play in High Wycombe

Surely they would have exactly the same issue that Adams Park currently has and that’s access!

Build the new access road and install a one way system. Not sure you are going to get 5,000 visiting the hospital each day.

At least you can exit Studley Green in 2 directions :joy:

5,000 every Saturday when the thought of going to Farnham makes every fan have a prolapse.

A couple of hundred on EFL Trophy nights.

A part of the northern section of the existing golf course would become the Club’s Training facility, and this would be the only part of the site fenced to protect the privacy and security of the players and Academy training there.

Um unless I’m missing something

Don’t open the whole debate again about what could be built in an AONB …

A town of which 64% probably much prefer cricket. This means a smaller fan base than Wycombe . If you include Hazelmere and Loudwater then far smaller.

The only way we are moving to a new stadium there is if the need arises.Unless we are competing at the top end of the championship and selling out AP weekly there would be simply no point. No way would they waste money building a bigger stadium with us getting 5000 on a Saturday still.

I still can’t understand why Mr Lomtadze bought our club. Maybe Rob C was a very good salesman but if I were a billionaire looking to get a club to the Premier League and at the same time create a world class academy, I wouldn’t pick WWFC.

Like many have said above, Farnham Park as our new ground would be a real disaster and wouldn’t guarantee a bigger fan base at all.

I really do fear for our future.

Pretty sure it’s just to keep his halfwit son-in-law busy.

There’ll always be a Wycombe. Though it might be time to bring back Nose Club in a few years.

Farnham Park would not be “our” new ground

It would be the ground of a club with no meaningful connection whatsoever to Wycombe Wanderers

Wycombe Wanderers would continue to play in High Wycombe

Was curious to see what Slough fans might think. Couldn’t find anything on forums and didn’t look on social media tbh. But there was this one thread from today where an old boy recounts (at great length) the moment he fell in love with the Rebels…following a 3-3 draw against ‘the scum’, as he calls us, all the way back in 1975. :grimacing:

No love lost here and no doubt feelings would get very heated if new stadium talk grows legs. Tuesday, September 30th. - Slough Town Forum - Fans Focus - Non League Football

‘A part of the northern section of the existing golf course would become the Club’s Training facility, and this would be the only part of the site fenced to protect the privacy and security of the players and Academy training there.’

This pretty much rules out any ideas about a new stadium. I think it’s just clumsy wording at the end of the press release.

As someone pointed out the access is very poor between the Farnham Road and Wexham hospital. The site already has other sports headquarters on site and this announcement seems to be linked to the Wycombe Wanderers Foundation who run the Ladies football.
Other reports indicate that “the site is part of a broader sporting complex that already hosts facilities for baseball and softball, thanks to a national complex developed by BaseballSoftball UK. Additionally, football is set to become a major presence: Wycombe Wanderers Football Club has taken over the lease and plans to develop a football training centre and academy, along with a community artificial pitch”
Sound promising to me.
