Flackwell Heath in the playoffs

Continuing their highly successful season, Flackwell Heath now host Barton Rovers this coming Wednesday (30th) in the semi-final of the Southern League Division One Central playoffs.

It’s been a great year for the Heathens & now they have a chance to achieve their highest-ever league status. The other semi-final sees Berkhamsted host Hadley FC. Should both Berkhamsted & Flackwell Heath both win, then the final will be at Berkhamsted. Should Berkhamsted lose & Flackwell Heath win the final will be at Wilks Park. If you’re going I’d recommend getting there early as you may have to park a little way off.

Half-time: Flackwell Heath 1 Barton Rovers 0. Flackwell got off to a flying start with the opening goal after just 4 minutes in front of a crowd approaching 1,000. The match changed dramatically after 15 minutes when a melee broke out on the touchline in front of the home dugout. The nett effect was the sending-off of Barton Rovers #5.

Final score: Flackwell Heath 2 Barton Rovers 0. Attendance 732

The match became a scrappy affair in the second-half, especially after Barton Rovers were reduced to 9 men for an awful scything challenge. Flackwell doubled their lead on 90 + 1 mins with a second goal for Wiktor Makovski. At the final whistle another brawl broke out amongst the players. Barton Rovers are obviously a decent side but their atrocious ill discipline cost them dear.

Flackwell now meet Berkhamsted away in the final on Monday afternoon. Berkhamsted thrashed Hadley 5-0 in front of a 900 crowd this evening.

Didn’t the last Flackwell game you went to end in a brawl too? In the FA Cup?

I think you’re correct. However, the perpetrators of last night’s scenes were Barton Rovers. I don’t know why anybody would want to officiate after the abuse the referee & linesmen took last night. Quite honestly it was disgusting.

Flackwell Heath now play Berkhamsted in the final next Monday (5th) at 3pm at Broadwater Stadium, Berkhamsted. Should be approaching a sell-out so get there early if you’re going. The best place to park is the multi-storey car park on Lower Kings Road (next to Waitrose).

Do you know who the referee was for the game?

A youngish referee called Callum Parke. If all referees were shown the disrespect he was last night I doubt we’d be watching any football anywhere because nobody would want to officiate a game.

They need to start handing out points deductions for this type of behaviour. Clearly the existing punishments are no deterrent.

Very sad.

Perhaps Barton are managed by Joey which would explain their behaviour!
