Yeah. Football is just like golf.
Anything that ruins Trumpâs weekend is okay in my book.
No comparison between the two sports though is there? In Europe there is an unspoken word, it is called respect! We never hear a European shouting when a USA player is over the ball.
Incidentally, I hate an American that screams out âget in the hole ballâ when a player from either side has just teed off on a par 5! FFS there is absolutely no chance of that happening, even Bryson DeChambeau canât hit that far!
Shame he wasnât successful!
Donât lump us all in together. Iâve not got involved in some of those chants and think some should be banned.
Football could learn a lot from how other sports conduct themselves.
Nothing worse than the âitâs only a bit of banterâ claims that football fans make. If you wouldnât say it at work or home, then why is it ok to do it at a football match.
I love watching golf and cricket, there is far too much âfootball banterâ moving into the crowds. Itâs turning a lot of people off watching these sports.
I have 2 points really.

The Ryder cup is a very different event than a ânormalâ golf event. Its a teamed based sport that by definition pitches one side againsts another. The tribal nature of the Ryder cup (us vs Them) is more akin to a football match crowd than a golf crowd support that may well be split across 50+ players.

If we to want the crowd to show respect towards an opposition team - be it football, Cricket or the ryder cup - then people should be showing the same level of respect across all of them no matter the sport being played. If you are happy to shout, or even understand others that might (even if you donât - I rarely do myself) at an opposition team, try and put them off, swear at them, boo even at a football match then there should be understanding the same thing might happen at a team Golf, Cricket or world tiddly winks championship event
Iâve got no issue with fans supporting both sides, itâs the manner they support.
The Europeans are respectful of the opposition over the ball and they applaud well played shots by the Americans. We donât tend to see that the other way around. Same with the Aussies in cricket.
These sports have traditionally always been this way for team events but over the last 10-15 years it has degraded and for me it makes the experience worse.
to be fair to the Americans, this morning they have been much better. Letâs see what the afternoon brings after a few beers!
Now we know @kim_il_swanâs real name!
To be even fairer to the Americans, I donât think they have been anywhere near as bad as people thought they were going to be.
They certainly havenât been âWaste management Pheonix openâ Levels of craziness. Which, even as someone that doesnât follow US golf, is well known.
Iâm pro-Trump and posted the link as a reminder that any golf course violence is more likely to come from the left than the right.
The Masters on a Scottish course is the only golf youâll need, by the way.
Well, Iâve watched every minute so far.
They have been fine in the mornings but the afternoons they have been shocking.
Justin Thomas has finally stepped in to calm them down, about time to.
doesnât seem to be affecting the European players too much though⌠well, on the score board at least
If Trump mini me Farage becomes prime minister then we will probably not be allowed to play in the Europe team. Canât have us mixing with Johnny foreigner.
Farageâs wife is German
Do Germans play golf?
They do.
And of course, you need a licence to do so.
German ex-wife surely? ,He has a French girlfriend living in his Clacton gaff doesnât he?. As his first wife was Irish, I assume he can never find any English workers willing to undertake that sort of position.
I was going to say, accusing the Gasroom Piers Morgan of taking a potshot at the Orange King was a bit rich.
And now Iâm off to bed with an image of Beery Nige in flagrante delicto. To be clear, this is not an image I wish to dwell on.
