League One - 2025/26 Season

Just reminding people of some key dates up-coming:

Transfer Window - Opens this coming Monday 16th June
EFL Fixtures - Fixture lists are released on Thursday 26th June at 1200
EFL Match day 1 - 1st-3rd August

Fixture list release day is verging on pointless. I wish they’d highlight the international weekends on the list so I don’t need to get excited about the game taking place on anything other than a Tuesday in February.

2025/26 and 2026/27 dates for you.

Ta. It would be good if our own fixture list indicated them. We have (H) and (A) so it shouldn’t be any bother to show (I) or (INT).

Because they will be moved along with assorted Sky meddling.

Was looking at trains and hotels for Bradford on the 2nd. And decided against it as knowing my luck the ko will be moved.

Apparently Sky publish their broadcast games and times this coming Thursday, 3rd July.

Actually the first week’s fixtures are all being shown live so I’d imagine they will all be at 3 o’clock

Sky have already confirmed timings for first weekend of the season. Our match at Bradford has been confirmed as 3pm on the Sunday.

They have moved the timings for three other League 1 games that weekend.

It is on the Saturday at 3.00. The three on Sky at different times (the others all on Sky at same time as ours)

  • Friday, 1 August 2025

    • Luton Town vs AFC Wimbledon – 20:00
  • Saturday, 2 August 2025

    • Cardiff City vs Peterborough United – 12:30
  • Sunday, 3 August 2025

    • Stockport County vs Bolton Wanderers – 12:00

Thanks for clearing that up.

Maybe we should change the thread title to league one THIS season?

For clarity I updated the thread title to include 2025/26

Thanks for all the confirmations!

Just an FYI for those that haven’t used the app, for bookings trains, whether it’s for football or anything else, Uber is great for booking trains - easy to use, seems to be the best pricing and you get cash back.

(I don’t work for, or have any affiliation to Uber - other train apps are available!)

Is anyone a little nervous over the Pre-season friendlies that we have arranged? We only have 3 games, 2 x league 2 teams & 1 x National League game. I know we can’t play at home and we don’t draw in big crowds but having some more friendlies against local opposition will help this squad to gel.
In the past, we’ve sometimes had a big player turnover and it’s taken a while for our team to gel and bed in. If we have a few more friendlies, surely this will help skip out this stage and we can hit the ground running for the beginning of Aug?

I have heard there will be behind closed doors friendlies at the training ground

I expect we’ll have several of these.

No not at all. At least we have a nucleus of a side so should be in a much better shape to start the season than many previous seasons.

Ah, fair enough

Apparently the squad are all in Loughborough this week.

Most people on here have been supporting WWFC for far longer than me, and are probably best qualified to answer this:

Last season (24/25), many have said that we had the best squad we’d ever had. Now, with all the new signings, and probably a few more transfers / loans to come, is the 25/26 squad our best ever?

At the moment we are lacking central defenders and central midfielders so difficult to make that statement just yet. It probably will be though.
