The manager/head coach should be excited about the new season and instilling confidence in the players and getting the fans excited for what’s to come. It’s your job as manager to make the new players gel, and that’s exactly what pre season is for. You’ve been backed in the transfer window with loads of new players. Instead the excuses are in before the season has even started.

And, as reiterated many times in the ownership update video, seven on day one of training, a further two not far behind and a week away together in Loughborough. I’m not saying we should be blowing teams away, but we should be in better shape than most teams in the division in the first few weeks. Dodds will not be afforded patience after how we finished last season, whether that’s from the fans or the overlords.
I totally agree. Dodds needs to take some positivity pills. Too negative from my perspective , others may call it realistic.

Charlton had a rough start to the season — a flood of new players and a manager coming in halfway through the season before, making a dozen more changes. But then they hit their stride and became an unstoppable steam train. I think that’s going to be us soon.

I think this season will be one of bedding in the new players and adding further strength to the squad in January. There are a lot of pros and cons but I think we will end up around 10th/11th in the league.

Very pessimistic is relegation.
A 10th/11th place finish would almost certainly see a managerial change mid season and another big overhaul of the playing squad next summer. There’s no way that will be good enough. I suspect anything less than play offs this season won’t be deemed acceptable by the owners.

I hope the football’s better than the first 12 months of our good manager.Have we forgotten how dire our football was under our previous manager before he came to be good.

We had Skura and Hartridge pulling off Gerrard-style switches to Fred and Lowry. The first 15 minutes at Barnet were quality if we play like that for a full 90 in 85% of our games, there’s a 50% chance we go up.
The goal was superb, sharp pivot and an outside-of-the-foot pass around the corner to Allen, who played a perfect first-time ball into Kone. Calm, composed finish. Some teams simply won’t be able to cope with that quality plus more when they are bedded in. In Dodds we trust. Forget the negativity. Do any of our fans actually get enjoyment watching Wycombe or not? Moan moan moan by some all the time.

We will be playing different class opposition compared with Barnet though.
Barnet will do well in League Two. They picked up 102 points last season and are aiming to build a 20,000-seater stadium, which was only rejected in planning because of a few nimby councillors. Aside from the drop-off in fitness in the second half, there were clear signs that something is starting to take shape.
Didn’t they only move into the Hive not too long ago?!
I think that’s a slight misremembering of what actually happened.
The end of the season when MB took over was pretty bleak (as per MD) and the first few games of the new season weren’t great but we quickly started to play some quite decent football with Potts pulling the strings.
It was after he got injured (Stevenage?) that the football became so bleak and clueless.
I half expect a similar start to this season (although hopefully without the injury and mid season meltdown)

At least Blooms could explain what he was trying to do.
I approach each interview with Dodds with a hope he’ll have a spark of excitement or give us some hope but it’s all so dour.
Despite what some of the more antagonistic posters will try and have you believe, there’s really no one on here that wants Dodds to fail. I’d love him to turn it around Lazarus style, but there’s no evidence in his two managerial stints to date that suggests he has any idea how to do so.

I still think we’re going to get battered off the pitch every week. I see a lot of 3-1 losses in our immediate future.
