Looks like the Division is a bit more “Southern” compared to the Season just gone especially with Oxford relegated and Bromley, MK & Cambridge promoted automatically so definitely some more away days on the calander. Think the League’s quality is around the same as the season just gone too.

Really looking forward to it, best set of away days in ages. Competent manager at the helm, add in some quality signings to add to an already strong base and plenty to be excited about.

Confident we can push for playoffs, expect Sheff Weds, Oxford, Plymouth and Reading to be up there. You’d assume Leicester walk the league, but who knows.

I really don’t think Sheffield Wed will be in a position to fight for promotion next season. I know their fans will want them to bounce back but I think the new owners will be looking to repair all the damage the last owner did. Stuff like repairing one of their stands etc. Plus the EFL will have them on a strict business plan so they won’t be breaking the bank with massive signings

Can’t wait for 25th June. Some epic away days and yeah, plenty of ‘southern’ games to travel to.

Still going to skip Home Park and watch on Wanderer’s TV unless it’s a crunch match mind.

I dont expect Sheffield W to be a force next season for the reasons @Otter87 states, similarly Leicester are a basket case & will struggle to meet the SCMP even with the parachute payment.

I do expect Oxford, Reading, Plymouth, Stockport & ourselves to be in the top 6 come the end of the season, with Stevenage, Huddersfield, Bradford, Luton & Notts county rounding out the top 10.

Why would you assume Leicester walk the league?

Like with Sheffield Wed, Leicester’s finances will be heavily looked at this season. While their owner might give them an inflated sponsorship deal to paper over the cracks, I think they will need to be straighter than straight this season. However, they might make a tidy sum on a few of their higher earners. Players like Winks, Okoli, Choudhury, Skipp could all fetch 7 figure sums and will massively lighten their wage bill if they do move on.

If Leicester are going to “walk” the league, they will need to invest in the right players for this level, heck, they might even go for someone like Konè! However with the youth system they have, facilities they have recently got from the Champions League money they received & the pressure from the fans, I expect them to be in the playoff conversation at some point

The Storch family are reported to be worth £1.8b. Whilst not quite up to Lommys wealth, they do have money to throw at the project. Like us, money spent on the repairs to their infrastructure will enable them to spend more money on transfers/wages.
Realistically I can’t see beyond them and Leicester for the automatics.

Looks a good league for away days so looking forward to June and the fixture release. Just happy that Salford didn’t come up, the BBC would be creaming themselves for Wrexham part deux what with all the Man U old boys in their ownership group, that plus County are closer than Manchester for an awAy day.

Fair enough. It’s clear that they are the biggest 2 clubs that will be in the league next season with regards to their fan base, facilities, history and stadium so it’s natural that they will be seen as favourites. However, their very recent history could be their blocking consideration.

While the new owners of Wednesday have money in their pocket, the EFL will be / has given them a very structured & strict business plan. Any money they spend will need to be included on that plan and if they move away from that, I believe the EFL will be ready to hit them with more point deductions

Just curious why that is? Really enjoyed my trip to Plymouth last year, apart from the injury time equaliser of course

Omitted to say “if midweek again”. The EFL seems to like their routines. Like Reading v Wycombe being a 1200 ko recently.

Interesting contradiction.

Plymouth will be our (well your, not mine!) longest league away trip next season. We will be their third shortest away trip (only 20 odd miles from the shortest of all). They of course have to play someone midweek and over christmas

We’re normally in the SW region for fixtures, and as Dev points out we’re one of Plymouth’s shortest away days, so it’ll be nailed on midweek or Christmas. Or both.
