Hmm, the club posted on LinkedIn that the training ground was one of 30-something potential team bases for Euro 2028.

1st off: Brilliant that we’ve even had a sniff of an inclusion, shows that the money invested by our ownership has bore some sort of results, timed pretty well after last week.

2nd off: They picked the Crown Plaza in Marlow, not even in the Nice bit of Marlow its in the Swamp (Colloquially named because it’s a dump), Capacity wise fair enough but I don’t think whoever is allocated there (if we get picked), would find that side of Marlow attractive, but the trip to Marlow Road isn’t too bad to be fair and if they go via Gossmore Lane and Lock Road to get to the road itself then its nicer there

There’s always favourable odds of bumping into a sports team at either The Crown Plaza or the Holiday Inn of a weekend. :grin:

Those of us who work the bins at such wonderful streets as “The Croft” which is a bin dumping ground.

It’s a dumpster fire, the rest of Marlow is brilliant in the summer to be fair

You can almost guarantee that however much a dumpster fire an area or hotel is, if it wins a contract to host a national team for the duration of a summer tournament, 6 to 12 months before hand, it will miraculously be selected for a refresh by the head office and it and the surrounding areas will suddenly look world class.

And then once the team go home, it starts the steady downward spiral to how it always was because the usual plebs that use the facilities will Pay a premium to stay at the same hotel as Andorra did in 2028 but not so much of a premium that the standards will remain.

You’re assuming of course,that the players themselves don’t live in a dump anyway ,and may actually find it a step up.

Driving through Europe this year,I can assure you,it isn’t how it used to be in many areas,especially in the cities.

Now this is true. It depends on what National Team we would get allocated, I assume it be the Smaller Nations

I would imagine there will be some funding involved to revamp the hotel or a section of the hotel where the team will be staying.
