That’s a thread I never thought I’d be starting but it’s true.
Wow! Hope he smashes it and gets the job full time.
Hearts possible champions. Rangers in the bottom half of the table.
Scottish football has gone shocking.
or he recommends Bloomfield…
Quite right that Brenda fell on his sword, but a big surprise that St Martin has stepped up as interim manager.
I used to bump into MON in the mid-1990s at parents’ evenings when our respective daughters were at Wycombe High.
He was nearly as old as me then, and still is. Good luck to him, I certainly wouldn’t have the energy to rant and rave from the touchline every Saturday, and take training sessions throughout the week.
Before Couhig went for Bloomfield instead, I heard whispers from the O’Neill camp that he was keen on a Wycombe return. But that was still nearly three years ago, making this Celtic return a massive shock.
HUH?!
NOW THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A TOTAL SHOCK
That is absolute madness. Thought he’d long since eased into semi - retirement and the talk sport / soundbites circuit!
Perhaps he’s short of cash, the State Pension doesn’t go very far nowadays!
I’m not sure what to make from this. I love what MON did for us, it was clear that he was a talented manager, who should have been given an opportunity with any of the bigger clubs, and a manager that never got relegated in charge of a team. However, coming back into the world of football management at the age of 73 (74 in March) just seems silly. He could make easy money as a pundit, should be looked at for a Director of Football position and he could add some real value there
He’ll only be there a couple of weeks until they cave in to Postecoglou’s wage demands.
I want him to do well.I still want Hearts to win it though for the sake of the game up there.
He has insisted it’s short term.
Still seems a bit of a strange one all round though.
Surely it’s the classic don’t keep going on about that…look at this we’ve just bought you… it’s much nicer.
MON is well loved and will do a job and possibly distract the fans from getting the arsehole with the owner for a bit.
I just hope he is able to stay well, especially with all the aggravation and stress associated with managing a big club like that.
Martin is the best manager we have ever had and he gave us some magical times but coming back, even short term, at 73 is tough.
Watching the game tonight. He’s wearing the tracksuit.
but has put a big coat on…
